This Asus x42j laptop died recently. I suspect it's the motherboard chipset burnt. Possible to get a mini ITX motherboard that support mobile cpu for the above items ?

For lappy the CPU is usually solered to the motherboard. So you can't get it out. At most only laptop RAM and HDD. Guys don't like this la... Maybe ts newbie not so sure ma.

It depends on what processor the laptop model uses. If I'm not wrong, this one is Intel 1st gen core series and shouldn't be soldered.

I think its possible to find a mobo for it, but at what cost is the question. They don't come cheap. The cost may get you a decent processor + mobo locally.

Ironically it would actually be cheaper to replace the laptop mobo but if you wanna convert it into desktop, plenty of ITX mobile chipset boards going for $100-200~.

All mainstream intel mobile cpu's are PGA's and swappable.
