Samsung 840 EVO SSD drive has been arrived in month of august in SG. You can easily get them from various famous online portals like Dabs.com, Overclockers.co.uk, Amazon.co.uk and Scan.co.uk at the most affordable price ever as following:

1. $110 for the 120GB
2. $190 for the 250GB
3. $370 for the 500GB
4. $530 for the 750GB
5. $650 for the 1TB

SSD wise, I think no harm getting from abroad. Otherwise, you can adopt a wait and see approach, then decide once the local pricing is out. I have a strong feeling it will disappoint you more than surprise you.

Warranty will def require you to send it back to Samsung direct. Local distro will def not take in. Not sure if local Samsung will take in, though they probably will not since this is not covered under International warranty.

actually I do know that amazon sells them w/ free shipping to SG

pretty good deal but for the warranty, u have to pay and ship it back yourself.

They do pay for the shipping to you though.


but im looking for local. hopefully because of the evo, the price for SSD should drop across the board because of evo's pricing.

Somewhere in the Comex forum, i think someone asked ASUS or Aftershock if can swap hdd to ssd, the guy replied can do it, can change to Samsung 840 EVO 250gb at $xxx (RRP is $329).... Need go dig all the laptop threads n find... also dunnoe if he was refering to normal SATA or mSATA...

there are two options

1) contact amazon if product is less than 20 days they will refund/replace it and if it is amazon global when purchased they "might" give you a return shipping label (UPS) which means free shipping to and fro.

2)contact Samsung US (can be contacted using skype toll free) talk to thei CSR and they will email you a questionnaire..fill it up and then you will receive an email for Authorization to RMA..

The 840 Evo is the updated version of the TLC NAND based 840. 840Pro is based on MLC NAND. Performance wise, they are pretty close, but the 840Pro should still have an edge in performance and def in drive longevity.
