Went directly to samsung. no pt gg to telco coz they got nothing to do oredi...heart pain. :'( less than a week old.

i agree with brudder who say screen is a joke. my old HTC HD2 dropped dunno how many times still steady. sigh.

yeah it is with a case on. but then my phone smashed screen down.
*slow mo face smash*

otterbox is not available for galaxy note 2 yet right?

Otterbox for note 2 is already out, got mine from adix today. With many videos of people throwing their phones with otterbox case on and not a single scratch was made to the phone, you can be 99% sure your phone is safe.

it seem all diff charges,
some i see below $150?

price depends on where you send for repair. Telcos seem to charge higher as they take in some fees to send to Samsung.

Different price depends on extent of damage. My i cracked only the glass panel and the silver ring around the phone. hence was quoted abt $170.

those who just cracked the screen is abt $140
those who cracked the LCD panel (i.e the screen has bleeding or black liquid) will be in excess of $200 easily as the lcd panel itself is almost $200.

know this cause the samsung dude showed me their price list...hehe

Just some info for those who have cracked their screens due to a drop. Got mine repaired at Samsung for $146. More expensive if you don't have warranty.

Was told itll take 3-5 working days. But somehow they're very efficient. Got the sms from them that it was ready to be collected less than 24 hours after I sent it in. Was very impressed!

Guys i broke mine today. Stupid grilla glass 2 bullsh*t.
It dropped from my desk table and it landed sui sui kanna the table's metal leg edge. I guess the edge of my table metal base made contact at the glass edge near volume rocker upon impact hence, all the force of the impact was on the screen's edge which is glass.
Anyone knows hw long it normally takes? I know 3-5 working days

The glass is not marketed as indestructible, please stop blaming the glass for your mistake. Most glass materials are tough but none will survive impact at certain angles.

Yes. Seriously, if you buy a new phone, shouldn't you be more extra careful with it? I really don't know why people would drop their Note 2. Granted, it could really be an accident but in the first place, did you all try your best to protect your Note 2 by not leaving it on table, ensure that it is fully in your pocket first before moving off.

i dun think he was moving off from the table when he drop it. like me, i leave my phone on the table all the time. just not anyway near the edge. anyway, it didn't look like he was here looking for some scolding. cut him some slack, he is already guaranteed to lose 300bucks repairing his phone.

as to how long it normally takes, it really depends on how free the service centre technician is. unfortunately, most of us haven smashed our screen yet so we cannot give you a statistically correct answer. just take 3-5 working days as the norm. coming here to blame on the gorilla glass for breaking is asking for trouble. seriously.

gorilla glass is not indestructible, nor was the note 2 marketed as an army grade phone. It survives cuts and scratches very very well but if u give it a good drop and hit it on its edge it will shatter albeit easily/easier than some might prefer.

Learn to take care of your stuff peeps and be responsible for it instead of blaming for the phone for its inability to protect your mistake. Seriously.

info on repairs

Being one of the careless N2 users, I experienced problems finding out the costs and channels of repair. Having gone through all the trouble, here are some of the information I gathered trying to repair my N2 cracked screen:

Samsung Service Centre

Damage: $146.77
Time taken: 3-5 working days (an SMS will be sent to notify job done)

Phone will reset to factory setting, wiping all data off. Please back up before servicing. Original screen, warranty intact.

Before I head to Samsung, I did call up the service centre and I was quoted $263.70. This is not correct. The actual cost is as stated above.

Sim Lim Square

Damage: $70
Time taken: 1-2 hours depending on crowd

Phone settings will remain, data will all be intact. No back up necessary. Screen is not original though. This may or may not affect you when you trade in your N2 in future. There are shops that will check the screen, there are shops that won't.

This information is provided by a friend who went to Sim Lim after approaching SingTel.

SingTel

Damage: $350
Time taken: 30 mins to 1 hour depending on crowd

No repair available, but SingTel allow 1 to 1 exchange. I believe, as mentioned by one bro here earlier, that it will be a refurbished set.

I got this information from my friend who approached SingTel before heading to Sim Lim.

Hope the information helps. ;)
