phone lags for about 1-2 seconds when i unlock it. sent in first time they did a refresh. didnt work. sent in second time they changed motherboard. still didnt work. so disappointed with my first android phone.

Nope.

Anyway bro, download airdroid to transfer files between ur mac and phone. Much much faster than Bluetooth and got nice gui to use

you are not alone. mine auto restart every 1 to 2 hours after the film update yesterday. it freeze few times too. but somehow this morning till now its more stable. a senior member here advised me to remove and insert my microsdcard which I just did and now monitoring again.

After firmware update you must restart again. Then within the next few days some apps will be updated.
Samsung app are bloat ware but I doubt it drains battery.
Should be some app u downloaded recently.

Yeah firmware update is the software update you did.

Are you using nova launcher?

I Googled and people in xda forums suggested it was nova launcher. Uninstalled it and my battery life is back to normal.

Grudgingly using apex launcher now

No. Nova launcher is a app, you have to download. Seems like you're using the default one.
