DATA ROAMING ON A STANDALONE BASIS - SINGAPORE VERSION IS LIMITED
I just learned that the Galaxy watch 6 sold in Singapore, with CSC "OLB", which I bought directly from Samsung official store, has purposely the Data Roaming feature disabled. Speaking with other owners globally, many mentioned they have a toggle in Network settings to enable data roaming, while on my version is absent.
I inquired Samsung, and after a series of back and forth, they were forced to admit that Data Roaming has not been enabled in Singapore-sold watches.
They tried to attribute the blame to Singtel and Starhub, and to the Numbershare feature, but I informed them that I had the issue with a non-singtel and non-starhub and non-"numbershare", eSim which is otherwise working well on other Singapore based phones and that even registers well on the watch - just doesn't receive data.
When I noticed that this is a deceiving commercial practice, as you would expect Data Roaming as part of any LTE enabled device, they mentioned that they purposedly do not advertise the data roaming feature in Singapore, thus they are not obliged to provide it.
I question this way of operating, as you would never expect a 5G phone manufacturer to advertise a data roaming feature, but you expect any phone to have it, as it is the case for 30 years until today.
I suspect the limitation is due to undisclosed commercial agreements. It would be consumers' rights to know more about it.
Did anyone else notice the same?
