Where can get lower price than $799 ? seem like all the HN Courts best denki gaincity is selling the same price.

See if you can get a 3-lens offer.

I recommend the 16mm, 30mm and 20-50mm zoom. All don't have OIS but are light to carry around. Like this you can have some money for a cheap CF MIC tripod later.

If you play until very satisfied and skill have grown, then consider the 50-200 telephoto zoom with OIS.

Will keep you going for a long time.

I cannot say the system is bad but the write times and the processing by the camera after the picture is taken is slow. The white balance also a bit siao. The Auto WB is very strange. If you follow the DPR forums, for low light pictures, have to use TUNGSTEN WB according to someone. I found this useful.

I forgot to mention another f* up by Samsung. The NX100 which the NX1000 replaced has the AEL on it! The NX1000, they removed it!

The other situation with Samsung is the lenses. I don't know for what stupid reason, if you want to get their lenses, you have to get it from Samsung itself and not from the photographic store you bought it from. The photo shop can only sell Samsung bodies with the lenses only. Hence the reason why I recommend you getting their 3 lens offers if they are available. One shot whack all. Use the money saved for a nice CF tripod because all those lenses I recommended have not OIS. The body does not have OIS unlike the EP series of Olympus and the K-01 by Pentax.

Have you considered cameras from other manufacturer? m43 (Panasonic/Olympus) and APS-c (Sony)???

I am not saying NX1000 is bad, all cameras can take good pictures (most at least ) Keep your option open.

If you are sticking to kit lens and don't intent to change lens, I would even consider RX100

I bought Samsung NX200, and was surprised also.

Other brands/model i own:
-Olympus
-NEX 5R
-Panasonic GF3

Playing around with the interfaces and snapping photos, NEX 5R give me the best Image quality, maybe due to better lens i bought too. However interface and flexibility Samsung is top notch.

It is hard for someone to believe or buy this story until you buy and try it. Toggling around with the camera in the stores can not really bring out the beauty of the camera. Need to do more shootings before you really know which is best for you, and which camera have what features that others do not have.

Ya, not a camerabrand that I will buy. But when testing tge camera, the result be really amazing much better that what I thought off. Plus point is the price is much cheaper and reasonable.
But for this price I have no complain. Of course many will say sony nex6 is good but it too expensive.

Now NX300 announced. Got tilt screen and got peak focusing for manual focusing.

OK found out another thing about the NX1000. Using my Android phone, I can use it as a remote shutter release with Samsung's Android app Remote Viewfinder. My phone is an LG Optimus L7.

With a manual lens you have prefocus everything first and then go to Wi-Fi dial then snap it using your phone as the shutter release.

With the original Samsung autofocus lenses, it will go full auto and snap using your phone as the shutter release.

Buy it for the quality and the sensor

Just bought the NX1000 after going through all the mirrorless cameras. I held off buying a DSLR because it's quite dumb to have a LCD panel in the back and the peer through the eyepiece. I held out and am pleased with the NX1000. Bought it for below $600 with two lenses, flash, 2 batteries, leather case, carry bag. Great deal when you compare it with the other mirroress.

I've had a Samsung camera before and it's tough, easy to use and shot great photos but this old camera wasn't good in low light. Well it spoilt and I researched mirrorless cameras before settling on this great deal.

Reasons
1. I bought it for the full size CMOS sensor - which is the same as DSLR. other mirrorless do not have it, 2/3 size or half. Find out before you buy. This full size sensor allows you to shoot high quality images in very low light, and give you 20m pixels.
2. Offer was for a 16mm pancake lens with good aperture for low light. Also got the 25 - 59mm lens but with a slower lens f4.5.
3. With the 16mm it is light enough to easily carry around and can fit into a waist pouch - I would rather have it in my pocket but it's not a compact camera.
4. The package deal is about 2/3 the price of most other cameras. Meaning - drop or lose don't feel to bad about it. Most of these digital cameras cost too much to repair, so if spoilt - buy a new camera body but can use lens!

There is a new app out called Samsung Smart Camera. It unifies all the CSC apps. Namely Mobilelink, Remote Viewfinder and Remote Share.

People reported that it works to unify Mobilelink and Remote Viewfinder but not Remote Share.

You don't need to be on a Wifi network. The camera becomes the Wifi unit. It is a direct zap from the camera to your phone. Use the new Samsung Smart Camera app for this. Automatic detect.

BTW the new NX1100 is out. Dunno what is its features over the NX1000.

New firmware is out for the NX1000. There are two updates. One in Jan 2013 and the most recent is Mar 2013.

A user reported that Samsung Smart Camera app Remote Share function is killed by the Mar 2013 update. I'll investigate this. Mine is still on the Oct 2012 firmware.
