Hi all,

My wife and I are thinking of an end Oct trip to Sapporo, which will be our first time to Hokkaido.

Just wanted to seek some suggestions before buying the air tickets:

1. Is there any affordable hotels with in-room Internet connection around the main stations? Most ideal will be that the staff can communicate in decent English.

2. Is living near Sapporo station better or at Odori station for first timer like us?

3. Is there any airport limousine bus from airport to Sapporo and vice versa like the ones in Tokyo and Osaka?

Thanks for any help! 😁

1) from what I know. The price for the hotel accommodation is very high during the snow festival period which is on early Feb. . Oct should be ok. I feel Most front desk hotel staffs can speak basic English. Don't be surprised there are actually Chinese. For Internet connection . U should consider renting the mifi from changi Airport. It is affordable rate with unlimited data.

I have tentatively booked with Mitsui Garden Sapporo for my mid Oct trip this year. Their prices are surprisingly decent while being near to Sapporo Station. I will have quite a few day trips from Sapporo, and I have an elder with me, so I don't favour locations that require a change of line after I reach JR Sapporo Station (when coming back from the day trips). I feel the location is pretty hard to beat.

If you are OK with changing lines everyday (as I would if I don't have an elder travelling with me), I would have gone for Mercure Sapporo. Price is very good, very near Susukino station, and the airport limousine bus stop is just about one block away. You can consider it too.

Stayed at JR Inn Sapporo last month, around $112 a night, room has wifi, conversed with staff in Japanese but overheard staff speaking with other customers in fluent English.
Just a street away from Sapporo Station (cut across Daimaru, towards Kinokuniya). Very convenient location with Family Mart just across the street. 2-3 streets away from Former Hokkaido Government Office.

----------------
Stayed Hokke Club Sapporo last year during snow festival, around $165 a night, room has wifi, conversed with staff in Japanese but overheard staff speaking with other customers with limited English. Will have to hand over your traditional room keys everytime you leave the hotel.

About 2 streets away from the Bus Terminal, and 1 street away from Sapporo Clock Tower. Very convenient to walk to Odori Park

would recommend MyStays Sapporo Station (North exit), has wifi, English speaking staff, probably have internet as well

staying near Sapporo JR is good for train to to airport/other locations & JR Customer Service at the station is very helpful ... plus proximity to Daimaru/Esta supermarkets where there is clearance of food items every evening 7/8pm

Oct will be good weather to walk, bring comfy shoes

Can visit Hokkaido University near JR station .. hopefully the ginko trees & autumn leaves have not shed & I heard the Co-Op Cafeteria serves pretty good food

It's a 2km walk one way from Sapporo JR to Susukino area (for more shopping & food) ... connected via underground walkway but street level is also interesting

Thank you all for the wonderful recommendation and advise.

Seems like some of the hotel has not yet open up for booking in late Oct so I can't compare prices šŸ˜…

BTW has anyone made a day trip to Furano before from Sapporo? Is it worth the time going that far?

I suggest you leave sapporo for asahikawa late afternoon or evening, then stay overnight at asahikawa. Next morning go to furano. Then return to Sapporo again in the afternoon.
