BOC VS OCBC VS UOB VS MAYBANK

GO!

Probably missing some but let me know what you guys think the ranking is. Feel free to comment on any not listed as well. Top contender right now, runner ups and any worth noting. Easiest to obtain interest to harder to obtain, Internet banking experience, customer service. How do these guys stack up?

Thanks.

How do people feel about OCBC vs UOB?

Seems UOB is easier to get the interest with only salary and min spend.

Go for any 2 local banks for convenience of ATM usage. Amount in excess of normal usage, place it in those banks that pay the highest savings interest rate, if you don't need FDs.

Pretty much yea, if you don't mind the hassle of transferring.

My preference:
1. UOB
2. OCBC
3. Maybank
4. BOC

- Salary credit is with OCBC. Met 3 brackets, 50k deposited.
- UOB has higher overall rate than OCBC. Met 3 brackets without salary. Deposited 60k cash.
- not using Maybank & BOC at the moment. Running out of cash.

If new entrant banks want to gain market share, they will need to offer top rates. It is not just higher, it needs to be higher enough to warrant the effort to relocate funds across.

OCBC has more Sunday banking than UOB, I think.

But OCBC is loosing its popularity due to current UnFrank practice.

it does not matter for you, even if you find something that gives you ten times the interest rates you are getting now, you still get less than a dollar a month.

many of us get a few hundred dollars per month just from our savings accounts alone. it does make a difference.

your comments are really worth 2 cents.

there are significant differences in the interest rates offered by the different banks

ts has done his homework. the banks that he listed are actually the banks that give best rates.

It really depends on individual needs.

For those who hate meeting conditions, can try the following:

CIMB Fastsaver 1% for first 50k, no conditions attached.
Citi Maxigain account, 80% of 1-month SIBOR + add 0.1% every month up till 1.2%, min 10k, up to 150k More details in the thread

The great thing is, no conditions at all. No minimum card spending per month, no bill paying, no salary crediting. You put your money in and you get your interest paid every month, period.

The not so great thing is, it's lower than the fancy OCBC/BOC accounts with multiple conditions, those can go up to 3% on the first 50k.

The conditions for BOC are easy to meet (except some company dun credit salary to BOC) and interest is as high as 3.55%.So it is no doubt the best savings account less the awful internat banking.
