Dilemma for me is, I just got a Bimby for a home desktop setup.
and now Modiby comes.

Design wise, other than bimby having the capability to expand, and no such paths for modiby, truth is, how many would be spending more to expand desktop rig, instead of improving a living/listening room stereo setup?

Its a good thing for consumer of course and its a natural course for Schiit to take, to make the best available setup(with constraints) in the smallest/lowest cost setup.
This just benefits newbie who wants to have a decent start up kit.

Bimby should have better power supply. Moby is quite worth it for those who sell their gear and upgrade to the next best thing. No need for it to be modular.

TBH, whether is it better PSU, how circuit is design, how the burrito filter is implemented, its the quality of the sound that matters.

if I can pay $250, to get a sound very similar(or better sounding) DAC, why should I pay $350 more just so that I can have the option of upgrading circuit boards?
I'm sure there will be the die hards who will defend to say that bimby will always be evergreen(upgradeable, assuming Schiit will still invest resources in it) but its still a $300 premium over a closely sound product from the same company.

Sorry for the ranting =:p

Got my Modi Multibit last Friday but didn't spend much time listening to it mostly because:

a) My THX00 is still away for modding and

b) Spent most of my time playing no man's sky LOL.

But had a brief listen to it on my K7XX and initial impression was very positive. Will reserve judgement till I can do some sighted A-B comparison.

And yes, this thing get so hot, I cannot leave my finger lying on it. Remind me of the chord mojo when I was charging and playing it at the same time.

Seriously, w ambient temp here to be 30plus in the day n high 20s at night, the heat that mimby produces makes me concern of its longevity.

I now place this thing vertical so that both top n bottom can ventilate heat better
