Hi, fellow aspiring airline pilots! I want to create a thread for Scoot's Cadet Pilot Program (2022) application to discuss the process, timeline, etc. as I am currently applying for it.

Application
Prior to COVID-19, I applied to Scoot's Cadet Pilot Program in January 2020 and completed the online assessment. However, in June 2020 they emailed me that the Assessment Center phase will be postponed due to the pandemic.

Fast forward to Jan 2022, Scoot HR emailed me and let me know that they are opening the application again and inviting me to re-apply. I reapplied for the cadetship on 12 Jan 2022 and received the email to perform the online assessment on 25 Jan 2022 (deadline of 02 Feb 2022 to complete the assessment). I have completed the online assessment on the same day and currently waiting for their reply for the next stage!

I saw they reposted the job application again on 27 Jan 2022 with the same Job no code on their workday (R0002779). Something random I noticed during the writing of this post.

Program Cost
From the information I gathered online, it seems like the cost of the program is around $150,000 which per Scoot's website is co-sponsored. I'm not sure whether this amount is already the co-sponsored amount or still reflects the full figure.

Is anyone else also going through the same process currently or has anything to share about Scoot Cadet Program?

Note: Reposting this to this forum as I think it's more relevant.

Hi Gallarq, I applied for Scoots cadet program too and completed their online assessment on the 17th Feb. Have yet to hear back from them since then and am still waiting. Was wondering have they gotten back to you?

HI there! 17th Jan you mean?

No, as of today, I have not heard from them. My guess is probably we will heard from them around mid Feb 2022?

Hi, I applied on 27 Jan and got a reply to do my aptitude test the next day. I completed by Aptitude test on 2 Feb. But haven't heard from them about the interview yet. Has anyone heard back?

Previous Scoot cadets used to do the full CPL before coming back to Singapore for their type-rating so they had to pay more. I think 150k is the cost for MPL. Some suggested to factor in other hidden costs e.g. overstaying in Perth due to weather conditions etc, and that should be about 20% of the total cost. So I think it's best to have about 200k or even 250k for the whole course. Not sure if the bank will loan so much though...

Hi, I have not heard from them yet as of today. Thanks for the info on the costs. The initial ground school will be in Singapore first right? Do cadets need to pass the 14 ATPL exams first before heading to Perth for the flying part?

The aptitude test consists of around 11 different sections which include verbal reasoning, deductive thinking, monitoring, reaction speed, etc. Some of the tests are commonly found online I believe. If I'm not mistaken, it took me one sitting of 3 hours to complete the test. You can take breaks in between sections.

Hope they will get back to us soon. No worries. Yeah 6 months of ground school and got to pass all the ATPL papers (>= 75% to pass for each).

No idea either. Since they close applications on 22 Feb, hopefully they will get back to us once everyone has done their aptitude test 🤞

i see. so for those who apply on 22nd Feb they will get their online assessment emails probably in 2 to 3 days and then they will get, maybe, 10 days to do their assessment. so probably it will be mid march when we will see their next steps

Hello, I've applied on 8 Jan and finished my aptitude test on 16 Jan. Have yet to hear back from HR... so I guess the wait is common! Have another friend who also applied early and haven't heard back too. Hopefully everyone gets a response soon.

For those wondering, Scoot's aptitude test does overlap with some available online tests (e.g. if you follow Mentour Pilot, APC's free aptitude test is made by the same company). But as Gallarq92 mentioned above there are 11 segments in the Scoot test. The APC one only has 3 :p. Still, better than nothing :)

The aviation sector is still recovering. Load factors are up, but not yet where they need to be. It might be a bit of a wait... Stay strong peeps!

true. load factors are increasing. i guess they are preparing for the upcoming new jets they have on order in 2024. so if they start the training by mid 2022 they will have the cadets ready for 2024.

noticed that they have extended the application deadline for cadet pilot to 27th Feb 2022.
Yeah. I think the applications are much lower as compared to the pre-covid numbers, hence they are not able to get enough candidates to evaluate. Oh well. We can only patiently wait for now.

and i guess the reason for this is that few of them might feel its too risky to invest such a huge sum during this uncertain times. thanks to the pandemic
