I'm not sure what happen at scoot assessment center as I never been to one before. Looking online, seems like there is only info about flight attendant assessment which includes a bit of English test, group scenario tests, role playing and ended with interview, which seems to take a whole day. I think there is also mention of video interview at the end of the day from some online sources and interview on a later date.

From the timing stated in the invite, seems like we only have around 3-4 hours there and I doubt the process on that day will be lengthy.

Perhaps they streamline the process for this year? Maybe those who has been to Scoot cadet pilot assessment center stage can chime in on their previous experience.

Thanks @Gallarq92! This is helpful. Yeah I couldn't find much information about this online either.

All the best for your assessment and for the rest taking it too. Fingers crossed for the others still waiting.

I just realise that the entire flight training is 150k without any support and the co-sponsor only starts during type-rating phase which is after your flight training in AU. Now I am thinking how to shoulder this loan.
I think 150k is a gross underestimation. Not sure how to finance this either.

Hi, fellow aspiring airline pilots! I want to create a thread for Scoot's Cadet Pilot Program (2022) application to discuss the process, timeline, etc. as I am currently applying for it.

Application
Prior to COVID-19, I applied to Scoot's Cadet Pilot Program in January 2020 and completed the online assessment. However, in June 2020 they emailed me that the Assessment Center phase will be postponed due to the pandemic.

Fast forward to Jan 2022, Scoot HR emailed me and let me know that they are opening the application again and inviting me to re-apply. I reapplied for the cadetship on 12 Jan 2022 and received the email to perform the online assessment on 25 Jan 2022 (deadline of 02 Feb 2022 to complete the assessment). I have completed the online assessment on the same day and currently waiting for their reply for the next stage!

I saw they reposted the job application again on 27 Jan 2022 with the same Job no code on their workday. Something random I noticed during the writing of this post.

Program Cost
From the information I gathered online, it seems like the cost of the program is around $150,000 which per Scoot's website is co-sponsored. I'm not sure whether this amount is already the co-sponsored amount or still reflects the full figure.

Is anyone else also going through the same process currently or has anything to share about Scoot Cadet Program?

Note: Reposting this to this forum as I think it's more relevant.

The 150k co-payment of sort is basically for the CPL portion of your Multi-Crew Pilot License (MPL). MPL is only available through sponsorship from an airline (SQ/Scoot).

You can read more about it on Singapore Flying College website.

First 6 months of ground school in Singapore, then 1 year at Jandakot, Perth Australia. Then you're back for your type-rating.

That's the thing I am struggling. Getting a NZ/FAA/CAA CPL at higher hours and almost 50%-75% of the price and coming back home to convert and then sign up with Scoot again will definitely be cheaper. However, risking the opportunity of not securing a position.

Anyway, let's focus on the upcoming group interview at hand and all this comes in later. All the best guys!

Hello inspiring pilots.

I'm an airline pilot currently flying with Scoot on the B787 as first officer. Been flying for 5 years now.

After the assessment online, you will be called to assessment centre where you will be bomb with questions over airlines history, how your respond to certain scenarios on aircraft behaviour, a picture of what this button does ( Very basic).

Are just some examples of it.

Anyway, the cost fee is around 150k for the course only. You will need to travel to Australia to complete CPL, not sure now due to pandemic.

After completing CPL, next will be Multi engine and following type rating.

To be honest, scoots only fly 320 and 787 so you do not have much choice from here.

Only huge difference is in my opinion, joystick Vs yoke. End of the day, it's the AP that does the job most of the time.

Salary wise average for first officer. Can't give a specific number due to identity.

Takes roughly 3 to 5 years to pay off flying school loans depending on your savings habits.

End of the day, you love flying as passion. But not all passion can gives you money.

I do know of colleagues takes almost 8 years to pay off due to bad savings habit.

If your type rating is on Boeing and you wish to switch to Airbus 320,330,340,350,380 well and vice versa, pay money from your pocket.

Just my 2 cents worth.
Thank you @JL0611 for the very useful insight! If you don't mind, I have some questions:

1. Were there any group activities during the assessment center stage? And was your final interview happens on the same day or do you need to come another day after passing the assessment center?

2. When you say that 150k is for the course only, what does the course encompasses? Ground training and the flight training portion? Then when we come back for flight sim and type rating, there will be additional costs?

From your past experience, do they provide the breakdown of the costs upfront before/during the interview?

3. You mentioned that if you wish to switch to another aircraft type, we need to pay ourselves for the type rating. Does this mean cadets can choose which type rating they want to get upon completing the course? My initial assumption was Scoot will assign which fleet you will be type-rated on based on the demand.

Thank you in advance! :)

Confirmed my slot for assessment! Anyone else going on the 31st of this month? :)

Also, there is not much information about Scoot from application to funding the courses.
One thing I'd like to ask, if anyone knows, is whether the 150k (could be higher as I understand) shall be given as a one-time payment or is it by partial payments at each milestone?

This might be helpful information to those who don't have immediate funds like myself.

Thanks in advance!

All the best for your assessment! It's partial payment for each milestone e.g. ground school and after x number of flight hours.

Alright, thank you :)

Aside to others, if a Whatsapp group chat hasn't been created yet, I'll create one so we can help prep each other for the day itself. Good luck to those who have gotten replies and to those waiting as well :) Blue skies!

It has been about 3 days since the first invites to the assessment centre were sent out. I think chances are pretty slim now :(

All the best to those that are going for the assessment centre!

It seems that that is the only date for assessments. It also sounds like there are different time slots during that day that they assign you to as well.

I would like to join the WhatsApp group please!
