hi guys, i am a unique problem here. my SD card refuses to be formatted.

initially i tried the simple method. format using my phone. doesn't work.

then i used my pc to format. quick or full format, doesn't work.

then i thought, i should just delete the files! the deleting process took time... even after the pc told me that the delete is complete, but amazingly, the files remained there!

so i downloaded some apparently "force format" software. the process again took some time, as if something legit is happening. when they tell me process completed, the files are still around!

and no, the card is not write protected nor is the card locked.

what's happening??

Just like a hdd with read/write heads, the firmware for the write is corrupted. Good problem at least you still can read and copy out the data.

Some have corrupted read firmware and lose all the data.

I had the same problem with one of my Sandisk Ultra microsd cards. At the end I threw it away.

card is messed up, go to windows computer management and delete the partition and then format. Should work.

Card detected itself as dead and is now in a read-only state

Or you guys prefer to be able to continue using it and lose data? ;)

I kena same issue before, in the end I throw away the micro-sd card, I literally tried every means possible but still cannot format the card...

I tried to format the card on Windows 10, MacOS(High Sierra), Linux(Ubuntu), Android phone but none of it works, and so I can 100% confirm that my micro-sd card is dead...

I kena the same issue too. The good news though, is that they set it to read-only mode even if it fails, that means u will be buying another one to replace it with minimal loss of data, otherwise continuing to use the faulty sd card may result in data not saved properly.
