Sandisk, Strontium and Trancend

Hi xtramadness do you have any experience with Trancend's UHS-I and Strontium's UHS-I? These 2 are priced similarly to Sandisk's own offering($19-$22) which you've reviewed and I'm planning on picking a couple of MicroSD this coming weekend at Sitex and was wondering which of these 3 is the better buy? For reference I'll be using them on mobile devices.

Please advice. Thanks:)

Hi hi!

Thanks for your support. Yes, we do have the
Transcend:
Reviewed: Transcend Premium UHS-I [300x] (64GB)
SanDisk:
https://ourberries.com/2014/11/13/reviewed-sandisk-ultra-microsdhc-uhs-i-old-variant/

Coming up in the next weeks is the high-end ranges from SanDisk, Sony, Kingston, Samsung. We have started the high end with Lexar.

On the other note, unfortunately we were not able to obtain any from Strontium.

Nonetheless, from the results, at the mid tier or below SGD$50 (local price) category, SanDisk Ultra or Samsung Evo would be your best choice. :)

There's an abundance of MicroSD makers out there and not much differentiating factor between them. Your insights and reviews are very helpful for a novice like me and it's something I enjoy reading. It's a pity that you do not have access to Strontium as I'm leaning ever so slightly towards their pretty packaging :s13:. Nevertheless your advice is very much appreciated.

Mobile
SanDisk is better for its good 4K speeds, although adding data to it on normal day (sequential) is slow :(

The latter Transcend is better suited for sequential (normal data transfer such as camera shooting or files transfer etc)

I quoted your post from the thread I've started and decided to use this thread. I've read your reviews on Samsung Evo series, Sandisk and Trancend and is leaning towards Samsung and Sandisk. Trancend seem to have far superior reading speed compared to the other 2 however your review have stated it may not be the optimal choice for mobile use. Samsung is slightly more expensive(about 5 bucks?) but I get the feeling it is the best choice for mobile phones. Perhaps I'll go with that but Sandisk warranty is very tempting. Thanks for your advice!

Your welcome. Well, the best value in this case definitely goes to Samsung Evo, although, outside sitex, for a 32GB variant ~$20 is possible to purchase :)

One thing we also need to take note of is that some brands are using products (OEM'ed) from other brands. So in theory, it might also be wiser to purchase one from a manufacturer themselves directly is a good idea (IE SanDisk and Samsung are definitely main manufactureres). However, is hard to determine which brand is using OEM as per mentioned unless otherwise mentioned as it requires one to remove to epoxy coating etc which will destroy the card.

Noted with thanks. I'll see if I could get a hands on 1 of each (Sandisk, Samsung and Strontium) this coming weekend if not I'll probably just stick to Samsung. Sandisk seems to be selling out fast not sure if I could get 1 and Strontium seems like a good buy looking at the numbers in these two reviews.

Yup. Perhaps if you buy, we could meet up, and let us run a test on it? ;)

I've bought a couple of Samsung Evo at the show since it's price has dropped. It's now priced the same as SanDisk Ultra. Thanks for the recommendation.

Cool!

Enjoy it. Dont forget to keep both the original packaging and receipt for the warranty! That is a must for Samsung warranties. photocopy the receipt if need be

Hi xtramadness, Why can't you contact Strontium and see if they can provide you with a copy for review and can do a review on the same. Sitex they were offering at good price and eventually others (Sandisk and Samsung) reduced price to match Strontium price as well.
There should be something worth in the brand to consider..

Hi,

Actually, we did have from Sony, Lexar and SanDisk. I will try reaching out to Strontium again.

Kingston CL10 UHS-I 90R/45W MicroSD (64GB) [SDCA10]

5KMTw.jpg

Summary:
BGumf.jpg

rBxGg.jpg

Overall, as we can see, the write speed was very jumpy at the start, after which, it was running faster though still a little jumpy. For the read, the speed was pretty consistant. Overall, the speed are:
READ – 82220 KB/s
WRITE – 62953 KB/s

Similar to the SDCX10, we tried to find out the technology of the card, but again, we came up empty handed. However, like the SDCX10, we believe the SDCA10 is powered by TLC Nand. The card itself is generally an improvement over the lower-tier SDCX10, but on random speed wise, however, the lower-tier clearly beats this to the game. With a price tag of around SGD$65 (64GB), this is a very value for money card, especially for normal usage. However, in light of the slow random speeds, we would not recommend it for daily use in a mobile device. That said, the durability of this card should be good, and it is backed by Kingston’s well-loved lifetime warranty.
