I have an NVMe drive for OS, software and games. I prefer to keep separate as, if there is a problem, these can always be downloaded and installed easily.

Prefer to keep my media files and work files in a second drive as work files are small and read/write times not a big deal - example Excel, Word, etc.

Considering SSHD as I tend to reopen the same files regularly - example two or three Excel files. If they can be cached it might improve the experience slightly.

Agreed, that is why I have a second SSD for data only (and two HDDs for backups).

Seems like 19%. But some of these are for users who try to use the drive as a general drive. Example if you install OS then the cache is not enough and you will not experience any speed improvement.

warranty is quite useless for HDD because what's precious to you is the data in it, not the physical component itself.

So do get some brand that do not spoil that easily.
I will choose a hdd that is lesser in term of performance(speed, IO etc).

I do not have the exact detail of RMA rate for 2.5inch, but in general, HGST and toshiba hdd seems to be quite ok (do note that HGST & toshiba brand is always low in stock as compared to seagate wd brand).

Do note that backblaze statistic are based on 3.5inch hdd. As you are looking for 2.5inch, there might be differences.

don't bother ... because based on amazon buyer reviews the firmware unable to learn what frequently accessed files are needed to be put onto the 8gb flash memory .... it does not speed up gaming purpose like map loading wait time , you pay more for no benefit

Seems like recent reviews (February till now) there are no negative comments on caching. Though it is true that early reviews seem to cite this as a problem.

The negative reviews for this period seem to be exclusively for failed drive.

I had used this in my PC as storage drive before shifting it to my PS4 Pro. So far no problem in either of the system.

HDDs is really dependent on luck I guess? I got 3x 4tb HGST drive, 1 failed within 2 years of use while my seagate 3tb survive til today which is around 3years ++ months.

Do take note recent 4tb HGST 128mb HDDs has this annoying clicking sound while in use.
