Those who bought seagate hdd from amazon SG either shipped by amazon SG or US, is the warranty covered locally?

This is especially those which are shipped from the US.

Sorry mine was from SG. :(

You can try to ask seagate. I ask them about my warranty and they reply back quite fast.

Alot of harddisk sold by resellers on ebay and sometimes even amazon are Oem drives. Especially enterprise drives which accompany large data centre purchases. The drives if not needed are then removed for secondary market sale and their warranty is only honored by the manufacturer of the equipment (i,e Dell IBM etc). So you be going thru the reseller who will go thru the equipment maker then to Seagate.

Best to not take a chance

Mine External 5TB from Amazon USA spoil.
I went to RMA with local drop point and they ship me a refurbished replacement from Vietnam.

Proven Seagate is still bad. I use WD even green 10 years already still ok.

The quality of Seagate drives has improved a lot over the years. You can check out Backblaze's stats. One of the drives in my rig is a Seagate Barracuda which has been problem-free for a couple of years.

My last four HDDs have all been WD though. It's more a matter of price at that time rather than any preference for WD or Seagate.
