I notice in Singapore nobody recommends SSHD for budget rigs.

Is it unavailable or not worth the money?

Not worth its money... High price yet dun perform as well as a SSD. Might as well get a SSD and HDD seperately, since prices are dropping for both but not for SSHD.

To be honest, I tried the older Seagate Momentus XT 750GB 2.5 inch hybrid drive and I thought it is pretty fast. However, the newer Seagate SSHD drives for 2.5 inch don't seem all that impressive. Only saving grace is the cheaper price, but at the expense of performance. Not too sure about the 3.5 inch variant. For desktop, there is less initiative to go for SSHD since you can easily have more than 1 drive in most cases.

Agree with everyone here. Unless you have a laptop with a single drive slot, and can't afford a 512GB or 1TB SSD, then this is a good compromise. If you don't need the capacity, SSD is a no brainer due to the performance boost.

For desktop systems, shoot for a SSD + HDD setup to get the best of both worlds (speed + capacity). OS and apps go on the SSD, and media files on the HDD.

a rough guide is...

ssd: things that u need to access often, need fast speed (boot up, startup)
(os, apps, games)

hdd: things that u dun access often, requires large space, no need for speed.
(songs, pictures, videos, documents, iso files)

Nowadays I am not comfortable with the word "International Warranty" as it is very subjectively applied to Singapore unless the hard disk is an INTEL. :(

Sorry to dig up old thread, but...
If I used a SSHD as my program HDD (my os is on a SSD) would it speed up the performance of my applications (games, etc)
Any places that sell this in sg, or do I need to get this off Amazon?
