Security Clearance for DSTA

Hi all,

Just signed a provisional offer from DSTA as a fresh graduate, offer will stand if I manage to clear security clearance (G50) and medical.

May I know usually how long does security take? Do most people pass it easily? Not sure if it matters but I am a chinese male, no criminal records and neither do my relatives.

Should I still continue looking for jobs and going for interviews just to be safe?

Would appreciate any input, thanks!

Usually the G50 shouldn't be an issue if they offered you the job. But then if you want to play safe you may continue to look for jobs and attend interviews.

Last time when I worked in DSO a few years ago I remembered that it took me around 1 month plus to clear the G50 after I accepted the job offer.

Also, if I am not wrong you might still need to clear Cat 1 or 1A when you have been employed. Those MSD people will conduct 1 to 1 interview asking questions like how do you spend your weekend, which temple you usually went etc etc and it took also around 1 month to clear.
