Hi,

Need advise on building a new PC.
Current PC having some issue with mainboard.

Intel 8700 with either Gigabyte Z370 Gaming 5 or 7.
Corsair LPX 2666MHz 2x8MB
Samsung 860 EVO M2 500GB
Gigabyte GTX 1060 6BG - Existing
Seasonic S12II 850W Bronze
Fractal Design R6


Should I still stick with Win 7 or install Win 10 ?

850w for for your specs abit overkill leh lol. 600w with a good quality psu should be enough already. Os wise should be win 10 ma unless u got some niche use cases that die die need win7 (legacy softwares etc)

I mostly use the pc for work and play games.
Haven't really use win 10 before so thinking of weather to switch or not.
I had that PSU as spare so can just put it in.

quite old, even during haswell this s12ii was "not certified" for c6/c7 low power states
not sure wat it means for coffeelake, maybe if u do run into problem then look in bios to disable those c states...

If you are building a new system, just stick with Windows 10, after using it for over a year, I find it easier to use compared to Windows 7, but it might just be me buying a new laptop, with 10 pre installed, and being too lazy to reinstall Windows 7.

I guess I'm just partial towards new software, although the saying, newer is better isn't always the case.

Intel 7xxx Kaby Lake onwards and AMD Ryzen cannot run Windows 7 so your decision is made up for you

win10. no need think.
quite easy to use and probably future proof in a way.
soon win7 will be phased out and sooner or later u will need to learn win10.
its a matter of time thing, so no point getting the older win7 if price wise win10 may even be cheaper.
