Dear Admin/Mod,

I wish to seek clarification on my recent points awarded for infraction

Overture1928,

You have received a warning for the following offending post:
Tried to it use it to pay for intercourse but got ridiculed.

It's a course isn't it?!

Your post (Skills Credit Future you all used already?) has resulted in a warning with 3 points. Your account's access may be limited due to the total amount of warning points accumulated.
The above post was also removed from the thread. Now, I don't disagree that some may find it offensive, but offence is taken, not given.

Let's be honest, who posts on EDMW and expect an intellectual discussion? That's for current affairs isn't it?

So the clarification I seek is, where do we draw the line?

I see myself as a fairly sensible forum user that has no intention to pick fights nor antagonize others. I'd admit 95% of my post in EDMW are either sarcastic, tongue-in-cheek, or plain rubbish. (If fact, if things are consistent and all my posts get reported, technically, I'd be banned)

So if my post is considered offensive, what difference is there between EDMW and Current Affairs?

Hi sir,

I assume you are warned for either of this
  • Forum Nuisance (Trolling / Troublemaker / Etc.)
  • Thread Digging or Posting Rubbish / Nuisance Content
Those are indeed ambiguous rules, I would deemed it trivial but evidently they don't. Looks like something new coming out from the Pandora box.

Stat safe, regards

How do we draw the line?

if the topic is a serious topic and TS is really asking for some advice, then it will be appreciated not to troll.
Similarly if the topic is a chit chat topic and somebody keep acting mini-mod and telling others what can or cannot be done then that's also of a nuisance nature.
its all contextual and not just about being serious and casual.

Secondly if the trolling post is of a sexual nature or of other sensitive nature then obviously as you pointed out. Others may took offence.

Lastly folks who abuse the reporting button will often find themselves at the end of being reported as well and end up being banned first so you do not need to worry that you will be witch hunt.

Hope this clarifies

I would like to give my 0 cent worth to this...

I think anyone who choose to start a "serious" topic in EDMW must accept some levels of harmless jestering. Afterall, this is in line with the tone and atmosphere inherent to EDMW.

Unless of course, if the replies are ill-natured and malicious, made with the intent to inflame, target a certain user or race, etc., Then the line is crossed.

If the user is looking for serious advice, and strictly serious advice only, there is always another appropriate sub-forum. In this case, that would be the Employment Office.

Just an opinion, hope the team considers it.
