Would appreciate admins and mods not to lock this thread until all parties can make good on their claims/allegations and provide further particulars on this matter.

We hope all parties act on good faith and seek to resolve this matter in a professional manner.

Hi,

Would appreciate if the moderator explain and justify why this post in particular is "misinformation" when such generic strategies have already been validated and reported by the mainstream media?

Regarding "complementary prophylactic", see the excerpts from:

Source 1: https://www.straitstimes.com/life/s...rays-mouthwash-in-singapore-amid-omicron-wave

"SINGAPORE - Throat spray and mouth gargle products containing an ingredient proven to reduce the spread of Covid-19 are selling fast across pharmacies in Singapore, amid the Omicron wave."

"The combination of povidone- iodine allows iodine to remain stable in liquid form and retain its efficacy against viruses and bacteria. Iodine exerts its antiviral effects by damaging key structures of Sars-CoV-2, which prevents its transmission to others," he tells ST, referring to the virus that causes Covid-19.

"Prof Seet says people can use these products along with masking and frequent handwashing to further reduce the spread of Covid-19."

"They can be used to enhance one's protection when living with someone who has Covid-19 or being in crowded areas such as malls, hospitals and airplanes where there could be uncertainties on the risk of infection," he says.

Regarding "early treatment protocols", see the excerpts from:

Source 2: https://www.channelnewsasia.com/sin...ives-its-first-batch-pfizer-treatment-2494671

"Paxlovid has been found to reduce the risk of COVID-19 related hospitalisation or death by 88.9 per cent when treatment was given within three days of the onset of symptoms, according to a Health Sciences Authority (HSA) review of clinical data based on an ongoing Pfizer study."

"The pill should be taken twice a day for five days, HSA said on Feb 3, with treatment being initiated "as soon as possible after a diagnosis has been made, within five days of the onset of COVID-19 symptoms". "

Source 3: https://www.straitstimes.com/singap...-selected-polyclinics-and-phpcs-in-phases-moh

"The Ministry of Health (MOH) told The Straits Times that patients at polyclinics and PHPCs who are at risk of severe Covid-19 and who are within five days of the onset of illness will be eligible for the drug. It did not specify when it will be rolled out."

The drug has to be taken twice daily for five days, and should be given as soon as possible within five days of the onset of symptoms.

In summary, source 1 points to the efficacy of such prophylactic protocols, source 2 & 3 points to the need and efficacy of early treatment with any proposed drug candidate.

These mainstream sources are inline and form the basis of what we have said in our comment about what counts as "best possible protection" against covid-19.

Please review as it seems like he is being targeted for sharing information that was “fake news” months ago and are more accurate today.

Hi,

Would appreciate if the moderator explain and justify why this post in particular is infracted and/or infraction-able under the category of "Posting Misinformation Content (Unverified / Inaccurate / Debunked / Fake News / Conspiracies)".

To be clear our intention for the aforementioned post is as follows:

Firstly, we are genuinely sharing the "bona fide" measures we took in the thread: "Those who haven't tio covid yet, how u managed to avoid it?" as TS mentioned "Can share what measures u took? Or never even bother taking measures. Just never tio means never tio?"

We can provide evidence to prove the former and that it was indeed a "bona fide" measure we took and not trolling.

Secondly, we included the use of the word "maybe" to suggest it may or may not be clear if it was indeed attributable to the use of this drug since this is a sharing of personal and anecdotal experience.

Thirdly, if making claims or sharing opinions that something might prevent or work for covid-19 is "infractionable" per se (by or in itself). Then, a good bulk of the posts in the same thread should also be "infracted" for consistency because we can clearly see claims ranging from using vit a c, d, e, zinc, quercetin, fruits, lemon juice, etc. None of these are HSA approved for the treatment or prevention of covid-19 and have far less clinical evidence base as compared to ivermectin.

Similarly, there are many post and threads in this forum of a similar nature, e.g claims about povidone-iodine, lian hua qing wen, juicing/blending that are allowed to persist.

This is not to suggest the former should be infracted, but it begs a few pertinent questions:

1. Are our postings being targeted by individuals from an opposing side who perceive our content to be "fake" or "any eye sore for the narrative they believe in" as evidenced by
https://forums.hardwarezone.com.sg/threads/mod-thoughts-there-are-two-sides.6721910/
2. By infracting our post isn't the moderator affirming and picking a side in a contentious and controversial topic? Is the moderator aware of the mounting clinical and scientific evidence of easily more than 30 peer-reviewed studies suggesting favouring the efficacy of Ivermectin in Covid-19? Is the moderator aware that the often invoked HSA advisory on ivermectin is already "dated" and has not been updated or advised on the bulk of valid peer-reviewed clinical evidence from trials and studies.

For point 1: Can we request for mods to kindly advise these "opposed" users who made such reports to put us on "ignore" mode.

For point 2: Isn't this infraction an over-reach when moderator should be neutral and not picking a side in any controversy / issue? We get labelled as "advocating" a position. But by infracting or censuring us, isn't it in itself an act of "advocating" against something?

This is also evidenced on a fair point made by one of your moderators recently:
Please continue to report any misinformation.
But do note that this is a discussion forum and there will be many people with different views. Just because somebody have a different view doesn't mean its fake news.

We Mods are only volunteers and not the govt, I don't think you want us to be the final arbiter of truth.

You do other users a greater service if you can debunk the fake news in the threads than for us to delete / censor the threads. For blatantly False and Misleading threads like say "Biden is dead", we do dish out the points.
Just engage in a polite and civil manner thanks

Regarding official news, its very hard to be sure that what is official is true since as you pointed out Russian official say this, US official say that and Chinese officials say that, so we cannot trust these officials but you want to trust what HWZ moderators decide is true?

I do not think its reasonable for Moderators to play the role of Pofma in the forum for contentious topics.

For continuously spamming their views or provoking fight with people or trying to derail threads posting stuffs irrelevant to thread, such case are clear cut to moderate.
We do take action.
Clear cut fake news that can be verified like say "Biden is dead" or even posting old news, yes we can put a misinfo tag or simply lock the thread..

but a lot of contentious topics like say Bio labs in Ukraine or WMD in Iraq, how can moderators know for sure? this is a discussion forum, its easier for the truth to surface by letting you guys have the freedom to share and debunk instead of us deleting the thread.
Its impossible that we moderators are more to up to date on new info than all forum users.

Hope you understand that such kind of Pofma power can be very easily abused and its best not to depend on Mods to tell you what is the truth.

Thanks

With these thoughts in mind, we hope for greater clarity on your moderator's stance on such issues seeing how the evidence based surrounding ivermectin is mounting in its favour and certainly not deserving of the warning of "Posting Misinformation Content (Unverified / Inaccurate / Debunked / Fake News / Conspiracies)"

Thank you for your kind attention.

The forum will follow MOH and HSA’s stance on the use of ivermectin and other prophylactic or early treatment protocols. This is consistent with how we deal with medical advice on our boards. We will take a pragmatic approach towards Covid misinformation and review our procedures periodically.

The thread starter’s post on the use his/her purported use of “Horse paste” / Ivermectin in one of the deleted post presents a clear and obvious danger to the general public if blindly heeded.

Stating maybe as a technicality in wording doesn’t absolve the thread starter of repercussions. Made worse, it was posted in the thread titled: “Those who haven't tio covid yet, how u managed to avoid it”

For dangers of improper ivermectin consumption, please see:
https://www.straitstimes.com/singap...vermectin-to-protect-herself-against-covid-19

Hence and therefore, a warning was issued to the user.

——————

There is a plethora of manuscripts to read on Ivermectin and Covid. Pubmed and Google scholar indexes them by journal and citations. Interested readers should read directly from source and understand the study’s parameters and it’s limitations (if not often, the abstract and conclusion is sufficient). Recent published studies do not conclusively prove the effectiveness of ivermectin. There are studies conducted that show that ivermectin provides no significant effects.

There is also a notable publication from the New England journal of medicine.

Hi,

With all due respect, Isn't this opinion of yours misleading the public and thus misinformation?

Because we look at the 1st 30 results from google scholar link you provided, looked at the not just the abstract and conclusion, we highlighted in green studies which show positive outcomes in Ivermectin groups. Titles in white show no effects or are not relevant.

Thus, there are indeed positive outcomes with significant effects in recent studies as evidenced below:

Given what has transpired and uncovered in post #9 where a moderator was found posting potentially misleading and inaccurate information.

We're not very sure if the infraction was meted out objectively and in good faith for the following reasons:

1. MOH / HSA advice is clearly "dated" and has not been updated or advised on the bulk of valid peer-reviewed clinical evidence from trials and studies.

Even if the the evidence is uncertain, the neutrality and objectiveness of this infraction is suspect due to the admission below which confirms the moderator is leaning or preferential to one side of the debate:

The forum will follow MOH and HSA’s stance on the use of ivermectin and other prophylactic or early treatment protocols.

2. We are not giving medical advice with our original reply. It was clear in the context of the thread it was sharing of personal anecdotes so it was not clear how it was "consistent" as claimed below:

This is consistent with how we deal with medical advice on our boards.

Furthermore, if our original post can be deemed as "medical advice" isn't the moderator also giving "medical advice" not to take the drug in post #8?

3. What about post #8 in this thread where misleading statements and misinformation is also spread by the moderator; which calls into question the neutrality and objectiveness of this infraction:

We will take a pragmatic approach towards Covid misinformation and review our procedures periodically.

4.
The thread starter’s post on the use his/her purported use of “Horse paste” / Ivermectin in one of the deleted post presents a clear and obvious danger to the general public if blindly heeded.
This is merely an allegation or opinion which has yet to be substantiated and/or not supported by the context of the original posting because:

We did not ask the general public to heed our anecdotal evidence or gave advice that it should be taken or heeded, or prescribe any specific dosing or advice on its use.

5.
Stating maybe as a technicality in wording doesn’t absolve the thread starter of repercussions. Made worse, it was posted in the thread titled: “Those who haven't tio covid yet, how u managed to avoid it”
if making claims or sharing opinions that something might prevent or work for covid-19 is "infractionable" per se (by or in itself).

So is this infraction even justified for consistency sake?

6.
How is a single anecdotal evidence supportive of your opinion of the purported "dangers of improper ivermectin consumption" when clinical evidence shows it is well tolerated and has an established safety profile.

Once again, our original post is not asking people to consume the drug, we're sharing our own observations.

7.
Hence and therefore, a warning was issued to the user.
Hence, based the points covered above, we have reasons to believe the infraction was not meted out by means of any neutral or objective framework and/or motivated by good faith.

The forum will follow government guidelines. You can choose an alternate forum to conduct a discourse on this topic.

Thank you for highlighting. I have updated my earlier post for clarity.

Based on the google scholar link, recently published papers (as you highlighted in white)
do not completely paint a picture that ivermectin is effective. With such mixed results, it is irresponsible to advocate the use or even promote the use of ivermectin as a prophylactic or for treatment.

The forum will follow government guidelines whenever the user likes it or not.
Respectfully, it was never about whether anyone likes it or not.

Also, is there any government guidelines that sharing of anecdotal experience is illegal? People can't have opinions?

More pertinently, It was about whether these infraction/s was meted out by means of any neutral or objective framework and/or motivated by good faith as explained in post #10.

Perhaps someone with a propensity for objectivity and neutrality should re-look into this case.

Yes, but the studies in green do paint a picture that ivermectin is effective.

Even if we were generous and grant that the evidence is uncertain, shouldn't one be fair & neutral and not censure sharing of anecdotal experience and opinion/s?
Hence it is irresponsible to advocate the use or even promote the use of ivermectin.
Our original post was not asking people to use ivm. There is nothing ambiguous about its messaging in the context of that thread.

If users decide to interpret it that way, then it regrettable and we do apologize for that.

We have made it clear in many of our post history that individuals should always seek proper and professional medical advice when in doubt.

No one in this forum should give specific medical advice for or against the use of any drug or treatment.

This is still the stance for all our past posts and any posts moving forward.

With this in mind, we're not sure why you keep pushing the unjustified allegation and mistaken assumption that we are asking people to use it, when we have similarly shared evidence of other drugs / supplements and we were very careful not to indicate dosages even while sharing the evidence from studies.

Why do you afford a pass for other users sharing their experience on using
vit a c, d, e, zinc, quercetin, fruits, lemon juice, povidone-iodine, lian hua qing wen, juicing/blending, etc ?

Do you want or find it reasonable to censure them for advocating the use or promote the use of these things?

This is the same kind of unjustified allegation/s which you have previously made in this thread: https://forums.hardwarezone.com.sg/threads/hi-may-we-know-why-this-post-was-deleted.6613699/

This is something we find very disturbing and we hope you provide evidence to justify your allegations.

Thankyou. We share a common understanding on the above points then. Based on the aforementioned points that you have stated, I hope you can see why your response in the thread titled
“Those who haven't tio covid yet, how u managed to avoid it” Was inappropriate and could mislead users and the general public

None of these are HSA / MOH approved for covid. Don't they also have the propensity and potential to "mislead users and the general public"?

Since you so generously made the jump from sharing an "anecdotal experience / opinion" to "advocating its use" in our case.

Do you want or find it reasonable to censure them for advocating the use or promote the use of these things?

Where is the consistency?

Or is an objective and neutral evaluation not possible because you are taking a side on such issues?

Is sharing of anecdotal experience and opinion/s illegal?

Don't think it is notable, if it is, it isn't for being accurate in its reporting.

Thread explaining this below:

I have published before. It it is not atypical for a submitted manuscript to take 6 months or so. Desk rejects, resubmissions, pacifying reviewer 2, type setting takes time. Even publishing via open access, a simple peer review process will take no less than a month.

https://www.channelnewsasia.com/bus...immunity-ivermectin-fails-major-trial-2602641
Ivermectin fails, convalescent plasma succeeds

Two gold-standard trials published in The New England Journal of Medicine on Wednesday help settle questions about two controversial therapies touted by many early in the pandemic with decidedly mixed results - failure for the antiparasite drug ivermectin and success for antibody-rich blood plasma from COVID-19 survivors.

Ivermectin is a prescribed drug. There are dangers of misusing it not for it’s intended purpose or overdosing on it. Sharing of anecdotal experience can cause bodily harm. Please see the straits times article about the elderly lady.

The stance on Lian Hua Qing Wen is consistent to the advisory from the HSA. Please see.
