Seeking laptop recommendations for school

Hello guys need opinions and recommendations. Gonna start part-time degree soon while working full-time. I need to attend school after work on a few days per week.

I'm looking at a light and compact laptop capable to run engineering software. Eyeing a 13/14 inch notebook below 1.5kg with a budget of up to $2.2k.

Need this specs and features ;

i7 processor
16gig RAM
At least a dedicated graphic card, I think 2gb is enough for CAD/CAM and rendering software
At least 512gig storage
Thunderbolt 3

Saw a couple of options while surveying around but would like to get opinions before committing especially in terms of cooling and keyboard ergonomics.

Dell Inspiron 7490, Zenbook 14, Ideapad Slim 5

The Slim 5 and Zenbook 14 don't come with Thunderbolt 3.

Check out the Yoga Slim 7 14IIL05. Courts is selling it for 1,999, earliest delivery date 17 September though.

Seems to meet your needs, though not sure if MX350 is beefy enough?

no matter what you choose
remember to factor in the power adapter..
and ur text book
the weight will adds up ...

because even with USB-C charging
it will not be enough to power a dedicated GPU
only integrated GPU will be used

I suggest you go check the keyboard for each of the model and type how it feels.

If you need tb3, then G14 or other amd chip is out bc they don't support it. But if you don't need tb3, then G14 is a great option to consider. It has a long battery life (can tweak it to go up to ten hours), gpu, lots of core and only 14 inches.

I have one and I like it a lot. My prev laptop was xps15 and the only thing I miss from the xps is the big screen.
