Need some help with planning a 10D9N self-drive trip to Tokyo Outskirts.
Got elderly and very young kids so would very much prefer to drive. Tried asking on other forums but replies were mostly against driving. So hope to get some help here!
We will be going to the following places:
1) Nikko (2N)
2) Ashikaga
3) Kawaguchiko (2N)
4) Kamakura
5) Yokohama (3N)
6) Tokyo [Odaiba & Sky Tree] - take public transport
Please advise on whether a self-drive for the above route is ok. For Ashikaga, we will be stopping by on our way down from Nikko. Is there any recommended place to stay for a night before continuing on to Kawaguchiko?
Is driving in Yokohama a bad idea? If so, where else should we stay on the last few days? We wil be doing day trips to Kamakura and Odaiba.

Thank you!

Driving is ok for the first 3 especially Kawaguchiko when the buses are always crowded and irregular. Other than this, public transport is better and more convenient.

Might be challenging to drive to Nikko... there are numerous hairpin turns... but good thing is the route is one way up and one way down... so dun have to worry of oncoming traffics while doing all those hairpin turns... depending on when u going... early december will have snow on the ground already so need to drive carefully...

Yokohama is easy to drive... not much traffic... but i reckon 3N might be a bit too long?

Tokyo itself is quite hard for beginners... the traffic lights got many combinations of green arrows... and traffic is quite heavy... i remember my last trip 10am move off... 12pm then managed to get out of Tokyo... delay due to a combination of wrong turns and traffic jams...

The rest not too sure abt traffic condition...
