Hey guys,

I just started working (less than a mth) and I have reservist in a few weeks. I am under a free-lancer contract (retainer agreement) for a year, so I am not registered as an employee under the company.

I know that I should be considered self-employed but I can't provide income tax (cause I'm fresh yo), so I'm left with the average income option. However, I don't have any payment vouchers or bank statements for the 6 mths prior to the training commencement (once again cause I'm fresh SON). The only thing I can provide is the contract agreement, with start date and states that I am working under them for a year and getting paid $XXXX per mth.

Please do advice homeys!

The most accurate way to measure your current income is to opt for the Income Tax Option. That is to say they might only pay you your service pay since there's no prior income tax assessment for them to refer to. However, when you file your income tax next year, they will based on your overall trade income this year and return you the shortfall.

If for some reason you are unwilling to go for this option, you might want to write in to their make up pay department with your contract agreement.
