becos moi work in IT R&D for 11 years, seems like NSmen dun like to work IT mah....

I don't have any insights on this aspect and neither do I have a clear statistical knowledge on it either.
I'm afraid I won't be able to elaborate on this subject.

My co. those self study to up their skills, they go to the bottom and become the workhorse.
To sarpork all those who took the project management paper.

End up 20 manazers manage a group of 7.

Cert is to prove that an educational institution backs you up and qualifies you for that particular skill set.

You can self learn but nobody can back your abilities. In fact you can do a better job than those with a cert, they also will not hire you or undercut you with lesser pay.

That's the sad reality, cert is everything in Singapore because most employers demand it so.

That's the sad reality. To me, cert is only relevant for the first job in relevant industry. After that, if employer still want to undercut you when your asking salary is realistic (e.g. they pay as much for the role), then is up to you to decide whether to accept or reject.

Look at DBS, their SEED program, their hiring practices. Half of it I blame on paper so good till they f up so many times. Another half I guest South-Asian are too capable. lol.

To me, even their DBS app UX is worse than OCBC UOB.

You need to self study . But appear in the exam as others and show that you have "self studied" and exceled... Else why should anyone believe you..

I can say I self studied a pilot course... Are u ready to get in my plane as a passenger???

Alot of courses can self study and pay $$$ for test to get Cert what.

yes. Never too late to join the mainstream by trying his best to get a certification from a recognized institution. Without such certification, one can still excel if he is capable to master the skill. There are still many successful stories of those who are not highly educated; so, don't give up.
