Greetings fellow earthogs. Newbiew here. Anyone here tried and tested this HD800. Is this value for money ? What sort of head amp you'll need to drive this animal ? Feedback warmly welcomed.

experience it yourself...

try a $100 headphone

then , $500 headphone

then $1000 headphone

then $1500 headphone

then $2000 headphone which is the HD800

u will then appreciate it

my experience... the HD800 produce so much fine details... why do I need so much details... I don't want to be paying attention to fine details... or rather just enjoy the music

and is still wrong... sennheiser

Like kazzzam said.. To see if it value for money, you need to incrementally test it out yourself.

As for amps, a humble O2 can drive it pretty well. :o

Go stereo and audition for yourself. Not everyone like the HD800 sound.

Hello fellow earthogs, tks for your feedback. Next project is to find a good spelling teacher. My o2 is on it's way and trying to put a reasonably good pair of ear cans onto my radar. Some earthongs recommended the HD800 which I'm trying to get second opinion. Guess it makes cow sense to get an auditions but the 'authorized' re-seller in SLS did not provide such service. Maybe it's good to hang out at the Adelphi. Cheers

You should consider listening to the Audeze LCD2/3, Denon D7000 and the Audiotechnica W3000ANV before you listen to the HD800.

Like the rest of the guys here, I feel HD800 is a very difficult beast to pair with. The O2 amp is good but you need to consider your source as well. It's too revealing and anything in the chain that isn't good enough will make hd800 sound bad.(as in too clinical)
