Sensor cleaner

A friend of mine has some dust on the sensor of his dlsr. Does anyone use those sensor swabs or gel sticks to remove dust? I use a "gel stick" to clean my a6000 sensor and it works quite well. Not sure if it is just as good for a dlsr with a mirror.

Blow first... Once u wet clean. . it get worst

He tried using the rocket blower thing. Cleaned some of the dust but still alittle bit left

How much does it cost for one service?

I cleaned my own Sony sensor countless times without damaging anything. Not so sure of helping clean a camera with a mirror.

i assume that the sensor dust shows in the pictures.
Better send for service.

Hmm the amount of $$ I saved form cleaning my own sensor I could rebuy my a6000 couple of times

My friend use a Nikon d3300

I check if he prefers to diy or use the service

depends on u lo... I didn't have good experience cleaning my own sensor... had fine scratches.... and still not as clean

never go and touch the sensor.... use compress air spray

if cannot, cleaning without a proper clean tool... is a NO NO

there is a mode to lock up mirror to expose the sensor. will be exactly the same as cleaning your mirrorless

Not for the D3300, likely will be bulb mode, set to infinity timing, then clean while the sensor is recording, which explains why it's hard to get it clean as there's still static due to the current flowing through...

I had a stain on my Sony A6000 sensor today that the orange gel stick could not remove

Used a sensor swab and got rid of it.

Form my experience cleaning just the a6000 sensor, the gel stick works well for removing dust where a rocket blower can't while the sensor swabs can clean stains where the gel stick can't.

If I had to use only 1 cleaner, I will probably go with the sensor swab as its more effective and cheaper ~ $15 for the swab kit with 12 pieces of swabs VS $ 50-80 for a gel stick which can be reused probably indefinitely.

I feel the gel stick is way overpriced. Probably a mark up for being "made in Germany" however the made in china VSGO sensor cleaning kit works just as well if not better
