Sensor vs Aperture

Was comparing Cybershot HX60 and Lumix LF1. HX60 has a smaller aperture at f/2.3 with EXMOR CMOS sensor while LF1 has a bigger aperture f/1.7 with MOS sensor.

Which will produce a better low light image if we want shoot indoor on toddlers?

The LF1 should provide much better image quality given the larger 1/1.7" sensor size vs. 1/2.3" size. Despite the slightly smaller aperture, a larger sensor allows you to bump the ISO with less noise to compensate.

First of all you can't measure the specs in this manner because there are a few variables here.

1) The technologies of the sensors are different, so with other variables involved, the assessment is off
2) With different sensor size and lens aperture, you will need to consider the sharpness of your focusing on toddle that may run around. Larger sensor and larger apertures will have very shallow depth of field and may affect the sharpness of your capture should the toddle move.

I will recommend you get a camera that can mount external flash/strobe, use bounce light to freeze your subject or get really nice pictures.

The higher you push your ISO, even if the noise is better for larger sensor, the colour reproduction falls for most pro consumer above ISO400

LF1's f1.7 is better as it allows more light in.
LF1's sensor is also larger n better as it captures more light.
