I'm planning to visit Japan(Tokyo and Osaka- not sure if it's good choice) next year sep 23 to oct 3. But I'm not sure if it's a good time to visit as I heard it expected to be typhoon/ raining season during those period.

So I have a few question to ask.
1.Would it be fine to stick to those date or should I change it to early oct? I wanted to avoid the school holiday period that's why I choose late sept/ early oct.

2. 11 days trip enough to cover these 2 city? Or should I increase or decrease it?

Thanks!!! :).

Either one are good. But if city vs city, Tokyo will have an edge over Osaka. But regions vs regions, Osaka area may be better, simply because of Kyoto. To vists only 2 cities and nothing else, 11 days should be enough. But you shouldn't go to either without venturing out to their surrounding, it'll be a big waste if you can afford the time and money.

Sep/Oct is indeed typhoon season. But School holidays in JP is Au/Sep. SG holidays are 5-13 Sep. So which school holidays that you are concerned about?

I'm concern about the year end oct holiday in Singapore which will affect the air ticket pricing.

Also raining days are turn off for me.

I was thinking yea, it's too much so wondering how can i expand it. Maybe additional cities etc. But i would have to book hotel way ahead.

Probably school holidays have some influence over the rates. Anyway, Oct doesn't have school holidays.

2015 year end holidays:
Saturday 21st November to Thursday 31st December

Ministry of Education, Singapore: School Terms and Holidays for 2015

I remember sec 1-3 start holiday end of oct due to o level.

But if price different is not too much, i would choose Oct since the chance of rain is lower right?

Btw Airasia pricing for japan is 509SGD. Would it be better to go for better airline instead?

the airline industry will match the supply and demand accordingly, I would not really concerned myself too much with this. Malaysian airlines is asking for about 550. They are constantly providing the better deal for JP bound flights. being a full service airline, its the best that you can find.

Got it thanks! Guess Oct will be safer. Another question i'm planning about 2.5k, including ticket + accod.. Should i bring more, first time to Japan.

Go to Mid Nov till Early Dec.

That is the most ideal period since it is Autumn Leave period in Japan.

Air Ticket should be quite standard regardless of Singapore holiday. Japan still remains an expensive place to go (Usually my flight taking SQ fly maybe 50% full only!)

But Hotel during that period maybe charging 2-3x normal rate but it is worthwhile since autumn leaves is very beautiful (Another period to go is in April for Sakura period)

If hotel rate high then cannot sia. =( On budget, NSF pay too low.

Would Oct hotel be lower? Can plan for mid oct.

hotel rates doesn't differ much if u are staying business hotel or hostels. u usually it is the ryokans that have a wide range of pricing

if u stay in business hotels or hostel, and have simple meals at small eateries (e.g. ramen joints), 2.5k is more than enuf

theres always scoot as a last resort.

monitor daily and book at the right time.

my return tix cost $504. (can be lower if booked later. but i rather not risk...)

and hotels, if u going alone, can always stick to capsules.

and 11 days.. choose EITHER tokyo OR osaka.

dont choose both.

my last trip 8 days barely enough to finish tokyo.

you book how many days /weeks before trip?

Hmm, ok will have to plan out a schedule for Tokyo first then if needed add more days for Osaka. How many days would you recommend?

The reason i added Osaka is because my friend say 11 days is too much for Tokyo, and it may get bored.

osaka is more boring than tokyo.

but at least osaka can go kyoto, nara, etc...

10 days tokyo for a first trip is just nice

1st time go Japan??

actually if ur budget allows for it

Kansai (kyoto, Osaka, maybe Nara) + Tokyo is pretty good idea

you get cultural, nature and urban attractions

waa like that how many days sia.

2 weeks will be good.
but I would suggest splitting it into 2 trips coz Tokyo and kansai are not near and it is expensive and time consuming to travel between these 2 places. unless this is going to be ur one and only trip to japan

May not be visiting again for quite some time. Hmm, guess i will have to draft 2 different plan. 1 purely tokyo and 1 with few places and check with airline for open jaw.

japan is best visited during the sakura, autumn or snow season. given your budget and date/time limitations, why don't you consider hokkaido? it's autumn over there in late september/early october.
