i know I will get shot down, I test drove twice, Atto 3 and M6. Honestly, the driving is meh. For a light footed person, the brakes are so sensitive that every mm you step down felt like an e-brake. The acceleration is suitable for heavy foot ppl cause my usual light tap on accelerator doesnt really move the car.
The lower cost Chinese EVs do not use better grade inverter(power FET with silica carbide, SIC) like Tesla, this limits its inrush current capacity for instant power dump application,as a result, they use Software to slow down the power dump to the motor drive to safeguard the inverter, there is initial lag on most Chinese EVs.

Most YouTube reviewers will highlight this distinct lag.

japan is not the kind that will rush their development. they prioritise quality over quanity. That's how they are.

Their pride in their work is worth more than just reaching sales numbers and meeting green regulation

Their ICE tech we see now are the results of decades of development and evolution. They diving into EV is gonna take about the same time

Waiting for toyota do solid state battery

Japan quite stubborn, now they behind in EV

They are not stubborn. They just dont want to end up in a price war with China EVs its a sure lose game as china controls the prices of batteries in the end. 3 biggest battery manufacturers BYD, CATL and CALB are all from china. So please dont point this to them, its just a strategic move.

As you should know, battery costs form a large part of the car price too.

All the legacy brands including Toyota were slow on EV. It was also strategic because as long as everyone is still highly profitable in the ICE domain there was no rush to go electric. It was complacency and not stubborn. Tesla was already around but no one felt they were a real threat.
