HI Guys, Need advice to set up a video editing PC with $800 budget. I do medium to heavy video editing with CS6 and play some games like battlefield 3 and F1 2012. I am not sure with this budget I can setup a reasonable workable station. Really need the experience of you guys to help out. I need the below parts :
1. MBO + CPU
2. RAM
3. GPU
4. ODD
5. PSU
6. HDD or SSD
You do not require a dedicated workstation for vid ed
Your basic gaming rig will cover the processing power requirements
If you are intending to edit 1080i, you will benefit from using a 7200rpm drive.
720p - 5400rpm green drives doable,
Get a big ass drive just for storage and put your games / OS on the others. You might want to put your OS on the SSD.
If you intend to work with specialised hardware ( read hardware costing >$1000 ), do yourself a favour and check the system requirements of that hardware first. If you bought a rig and bought an incompatible hardware, its a PITA to switch, coz most likely, you cannot return a dedicated vid ed io card, just because of system incompatibility.
