It tells how much a person earns. Your employer CPF is also your earnings

So take home salary after cpf deduction is in the mid $3xxx range...

That makes sense since many Sgreans gotten their August cash handout by our government

Isn't the figure gross?
we more interested in what the actual salary received in our pay slip every month. when did CPF contribution become salary? seems like only recently to inflate the number

Per MOM Singapore 2024 median salary is $5,500 per month, including employer CPF.

https://stats.mom.gov.sg/Pages/Income-Summary-Table.aspx

This means the effective basic salary is $4.700 per month

($4,700 x 1.17 = $5,500; Employer CPF is 17%)

Why so many $20k earners are in edmw? Did we help push the national average up?

Errr ... they included employer CPF to inflate the figure.
Why did not include also ...
- 13th month bonus
- CDC vouchers
- Cash payouts
- CPF topup
- Utility rebates
- Service & Conservacy Charges rebates
- etc. etc. etc ...

the first component is what company pays you for your performance and RnR. the other 2 is forced by law to contribute. we want the actual measurement of a position

ComponentWho PaysWhere It Goes
Gross Salary (Monthly Wages)Employer pays to youThis is your stated salary in your contract
Employee CPF ContributionDeducted from your salary (20% for most people below 55)Goes into your CPF (OA, SA, MA accounts)
Employer CPF ContributionPaid separately by employer (17% for most below 55)Goes directly into your CPF

Ya. CPF is what you earn too. So i feel it is fair for MOM to make the statistics this way. To show what a person REALLY earns, in total. Because the person will eventually get it.

You want it shown a different way, just do some simple plus and minus yourself to suit your purpose.
