Any recommendations for cities near Shanghai that are nice to travel to for a couple of days?

Hi, if i have one day in Shanghai and have never been there b4, what would you recommend? Spend it at the bund, or go 七寶老街? Is public transport like metro convenient?

Thanks!

You can visit both if you have 4 hours.

I am traveling to Hawaii next Feb and might stop by Shanghai for 7 hours.

1. I have not done this before but can I step out of the airport to visit Shanghai for few hours?
2. Is 7 hours too short to do that? If I need to check-in 2 hours before and if travelling to nearby town is around 2 hours, means I only left with 3 hours to shop around. Is it enough time?
3. Shanghai pudong airport is near to which town? How long it takes to reach?
4. Where do I leave my luggage? Do I need to collect luggage?

1,4: What kind of transfer is this? Same airline? Luggage checked through?
2: Save time by taking the Maglev from Pudong Airport to Longyang and from there the MRT or taxi to Pudong.
3. You can travel to Pudong.

Rates are better here. It is very inconvenient to get money changed in China.
The demand for SGD is very low over there.

1. He asked what kind of transfer meaning same airline to same airline or same airline to different airline, etc. You booked the flight, you should know. It could also mean a transfer from a different airport, etc.

2. Info can be found by www.google.com
https://www.travelchinaguide.com/cityguides/shanghai/transportation/maglev-ticket.htm

3. Look at the map

Shanghai Pudong International Airport (IATA: PVG, ICAO: ZSPD) is one of two international airports of Shanghai

4. Depends on whether your bags are checked thru. If your bags are checked thru, there's nothing to retrieve at Pudong Airport. There's left baggage facilities at the airport.

The Maglev is the fastest mode of transport that takes you to Longyang, which is near Pudong. You can proceed to Pudong by taxi or MRT. FYI, Pudong is a part of Shanghai nearest Pudong Airport.

For a tourist, is there any point in going to the other airport, or is pudong better?

What's your point?

You mean arriving and departing from which airport? Do you have a choice? Most international flights arrive at Pudong anyway.

This is not a case of Haneda vs Narita. There is no direct flight from Changi to Hongqiao. You only need to be mindful if you make a Chinese domestic transfer. Your connection may be at SHA instead of PVG.
