You will be amazed by the Bund, Lujiazui.

Take a bund cruise at sunset, highly recommended.

Shopping, chenghuangmiao, qipu rd or science and tech museum.

For brandeds, don't bother.

Are you doing side trips to Suzhou/Hangzhou?

nope. will be gg for 5nights only. package is from deal.com $40 for 5nights hotel room stay.

Thanks for the input. is it advisable for me to purchase my outer clothing there as the climate there is from 3-12 degrees. Im quite big in size though.

You will need a good winter jacket immediately after you land.

I think it will be too late for you to reach then buy a jacket.

Huh, so cheap?! So how much did you pay in total.

I really need to keep a lookout for these kind of deals.. Missed it :( anyway try super brand mall, and the area ard jing'an / nanjing mrt.

Well, for that price, don't expect anything other than a room with a bed. :D

I believe you are referring to Nanjing West Rd Subway Station rather than Nanjing East Subway station.

It can confuse the first timers to Shanghai.

Nanjing rd.. Ahh yeah. Doesn't matter its all so close! Just walk, explore! Personally I found it boring there. Especially the raffles shopping center, the singapore one sort of like city hall. Soooo boring!!!!!!! Bleh! :p

Nono, Nanjing East rd and Nanjing West Rd are far away! Nanjing Rd is a very very long rd but I agree with you, just walk, explore and you will fall in love with this city.

Raffles Shopping centre is at renmin square by capitalmall so nothing uniquely China there.

Head over to Chenghuangmiao, many buildings with vendors selling a lot of small items.

theres nothing nice at dongtai road... its like a pasar malam but full of GRISLY-LOOKING antiques. most of them are fake anyway.

i was there 2 weeks ago because i wanted to get some communist propaganda posters for my friend.

unless ure really someone interested in antiques that are most probably fake, id suggest that you spend your time at other places

the lady whom i bought my posters from offered to sell me some north korean stuff like stamps and currency which i thought were quite interesting..

im currently staying in shanghai because im on an internship :D

i think raffles city shanghai is still worth a visit though

go to the basement, where they have alot of small foodshops that sell good food. theres one that sells skewered meat and its really nice. the carls junior here is also cheaper compared to singapore's.

they have a hershey's shop on the first floor near starbucks which sells lots of sweets and chocolates that i dont think you can find in singapore

are you looking for a specific brand?

if you want to get original ones can try raffles city shanghai or super brand mall at lujiazui. east nanjing pedestrian road might be worth a try.

ahem ahem ones can just go qipu lu which is one train stop away (purple line) from east nanjing road station.

Don't bother with the brand-name stuff we are accustomed to here. They always cost more there. You can go for Chinese brands, like Li Ning, Antah and that Qiaodan brand in the news now.

Gd suggestion. Qipu rd reminds me of bugis haha. Original sneakers in SH always costs about the same in SG, sometimes slightly higher :p

There are factory outlets which you may be able to find good deals.

Which part of pudong?!

If Lujiazui, its very near. if Chuansha, its far.

however, if you are coming for meeting, I believe the furthest of pudong you will go is long yang rd. so fairly near.

wait let me get this straight just in case we arent on the same wavelength :D

ahem ahem = pirated goods. shouldnt have a problem finding pirated onitsuka tigers and nike dunks at qipu lu though i havent seen them before. got too freaked out by that place so i didnt dare to wander around that much.

fake beats earphone can find pretty easily but im not sure if qipu lu has them.

if you want original onitsuka tigers can go super brand mall, they have a small outlet there

another place that i would highly recommend is 田子坊 which is a arty-farty place. great for a tea break or a casual stroll. google it.
