Sharp Aquos S2 with Bezel-less Design Coming To Malaysia This January For RM 1299

Some info:
- Importer for this device in Malaysia is now Thorus Technology.
- Has in two variants: SD630+4GB RAM+64GB Memory, or SD660+6GB+128GB Memory. The one in bold is the one to be sold in Malaysia.
- Equipment Price: RM1,299 (approx. SGD 427.51).
- Actual Launch Date: 6th January 2018.

why does it look almost entirely like the essential phone? the essential has better processor and specs plus probably better software support leh

Problem is, the Essential Phone sells only in United States and Canada Markets with no plans to sell them beyond these regions, unless you import it here as an Export Model, with no guarantee it will work with local or Malaysian Telco bands (which are purely GSM-based). Sharp Aquos S2 also has two things Essential Phone lacks: 3.5mm dedicated jack (not sure if Essential Phone ships with a Type-C to 3.5mm dongle) and a MicroSD expansion slot.

Ahh, good point about the sd card and headphone jack. those are plus points
As for bands, I test on circles liao, essential confirm will work. yah warranty is always a risk with import set but with the significantly reduced price now and the fast software OTA updates (its on dec security update already) with Oreo coming soon, I think risk is prob less imo bah.

is the S2 using IGZO screen? essential is still LCD. I was a fan of the IGZO displays on the older sharp keitais like the sh-01, 304SH etc

Actually just for the record (I am aware this is an old post) but the Sharp Aquos S2 does not have a dedicated 3.5mm headphone jack.

After using Sharp's Z2 earlier, I actually won't recommend buying their phones. Quality wise, they are decent. However, for the lifetime of the device, there is not a single update. So I can conclude that after sales support in the form of software update is non-existent.

the s3 "high edition" looks not bad (SD660, 8/64).

But where to find their phones locally? If price is "reasonable" dun mind trying out cos U11+ abit expensive imo.
