Wondering if anyone has had any experience sending a large parcel/box back from Taiwan.
Thinking of flying there for holiday, getting a bike there and bringing it back to Singapore. Not sure what sort of costs involved.

Appreciate your advice/experience. Thanks!

There are boxes for bicycles (for check-in). Any bike shop will know what it is and where to get.

Just check it in as per normal. Tiger will charge as per the regular check-in bag price. Full-fledge airlines will not charge if it's within the weight limit.

Best is for you to call the airline and ask. I know it can be done but different airlines have different requirements. Have done it for Silkair and Tiger.

thanks!

I will likely pack it in the box that the bike was shipped to the shop/dealer in, unless there is a possibility to pack it even smaller.

Good to note that some airlines do not charge extra.
Was contemplating using parcel service (EMS, etc), but looks like check-in is the way to go.

I hope u are aware that the bicycle don't get packed as it it. The wheels and frame are taken apart. Thus the box isn't huge huge.

Yes I am aware.
It's still pretty big coz the fork and handlebar are still attached.

Sent back by sea is cheaper

With all the documentation costs, it looks like sea freight is not such a good idea.
It takes so much longer, and it may not even be cheaper.

So far, just paying for the additional baggage allowance seems to be the best option.
