Thank you for the reply~~ I'm not looking at a 10300 though.. my post is that of a 11300H laptop..you will see a 33% drop in speed
i was using a 10300h laptop. the quad cores are like first gen ryzen performance but power consumption is high. sold it away. you will regret the poor battery life.
dont buy the atrix 10 gen intel yoga laptops. those are 2 year old stocks.
why spend $1000+ on a new laptop when you can just set control panel > advanced power options > max cpu state to 99%. your cpu will be silent
alternatively buy a m1 mac mini
11th gen h series is completely different from 10th gen h series architecture wise, actually is pretty ok and does offer good single core performance which is quite relevant in adobe apps like photoshop, though ts will be losing some multicore performance as the 10400 is 6 cores vs 11300h 4 cores, not to mention the higher power budget of the mini pc. @ts personally id clean out the pc and repaste it and see if it improves noise. id jump straight to upgrading if the pc is too slow for my use, which doesnt really sound like the case here. what price is the laptop going for?i was using a 10300h laptop. the quad cores are like first gen ryzen performance but power consumption is high.
Thank you for the insight.. sounds pretty worth it to change I suppose.. mainly also cause it's portable and I can bring around if there's a need to.. another reason is that there's less cable since I can just plug my monitor's TB cable to it..11th gen h series is completely different from 10th gen h series architecture wise, actually is pretty ok and does offer good single core performance which is quite relevant in adobe apps like photoshop, though ts will be losing some multicore performance as the 10400 is 6 cores vs 11300h 4 cores, not to mention the higher power budget of the mini pc. @ts personally id clean out the pc and repaste it and see if it improves noise. id jump straight to upgrading if the pc is too slow for my use, which doesnt really sound like the case here. what price is the laptop going for?
Thank you for that! Not considering AMD cause heard of compatibility issues with some software though.. but thank you very much for the inputavoid 10th gen
10th gen is like 14++++++
11th gen can

Then wait for alder lake....Thank you for that! Not considering AMD cause heard of compatibility issues with some software though.. but thank you very much for the input![]()
Photoshop, illustrator, office and all are Windows version, which is why I'm not looking at a Mac and besides, my office laptop is already a Mac too :XJust get a MacBook Air M1 or Mac mini M1 and your problem be solved. I dunno what windows program you are running but given the wide adoption, alot of programs should have mac version available.
high pitch noise is a manufacturing defect. You can request for servicing if laptop has warrantyI don't know if the fan on a laptop will be quieter than the fan on a regular desktop CPU though, laptop fans are smaller and so have to spin harder, which means they emit a more annoying high pitch noise.
I mean in general, a small fan on a laptop or mini-PC will emit a higher pitch noise than a fan on a desktop PC because it is smaller and tends to run at higher RPM. The higher pitch noise is what makes it very annoying to the user, and so I'm not sure changing from a desktop to a laptop will help if noise is the issue. It may even be worse.high pitch noise is a manufacturing defect. You can request for servicing if laptop has warranty
