Hello guys, I'm 30 this year and have been in the HR line since I graduate. I'm pretty tired of all the paper works I've been doing day in and day out. I've always wanted to be a Police since young :p ya childhood dream. I've a degree from SIM-UOL. Should I resign and apply to SPF?

Need cons and pros from fellow officers?
Can someone share with me the basic info like annual leave, working weeks/hours, prospect etc?

Thanks

PS: I'm married and planning to have kids soon.

Not all HR line work consist of paper works that is required to be done day in and day out. Anyway...

Depends on whether you want to resign and apply to SPF? Who is to tell you how to lead your life?

If you need time to think, apply first. The whole process could be between 6-9 months, the last i heard.

If you are a HR, you should know that PO is a non-degree holder scheme & things like scope of work & career advancement is different from a degree holder. Is this what you want?

Mostly your 1st deployment may end up in Neighbourhood Police Centre Officer (NPCO) & the working hours are 12 hours shift but you may even work up to 18 hours per day.

Apart from your shift work (12 - 18 hours per day), you will have other police activities fall under your rest hours. For example, meet up with grassroots members to educate them about growing crime happen in their area and how to do crime prevention (This type you can plan your time) to ambush criminal suspect from tips (This type you cannot plan your time & you do not know when is the ending time. After this, you still needs to report to work if it is your assign shift work in shift work roster).

Really not a ideal workplace (due to work timing) if you intend to have a family especially children.
