No bro, move on. Serve your army first, take the 2 years to reflect on what you really want and do in life. Remember this, your passion/taste might change along the way. Or if you have any dream job or any other goals in your life, pursue them.

No need retake your poly.;)

Retake it and do your best on it to get a good diploma.
If your grade are lousy, employer also shake head.
Might as well hire foreigner with NTU/NUS master degree.

You are prepared to pay the full tuition fees, without subsidy?

If I'm not wrong there is a lot of courses you can take in university that doesn't require you to have a degree in the field. Do your research.

Do not retake poly. No point and it's a waste of time. After graduating from poly 10 years ago, no employer bothers to look at my poly certificate.

Use your poly diploma to apply the uni and course that you have researched and will take you in.

Agree. Until now none of employer look at my Poly transcript and said "WOW ,you 4.0 student . " They only look at your experience and attitude.They told me attitude is the most important .

Hi Basher. You graduated from a local poly right? What i feel that if you are going to retake a new poly course again this time then i rather you take your previous certificate to take private degree in SIM after that people are going to see your highest qualifications. And if you are willing to invest another 3 years for ur certificate then why not go for a degree rather than a diploma

Hi. When i go for interview as an accounts or audit assistant, they did look at my poly result one by and one and ask me what they teaches inside.

I guess it depends on what role you are applying. When I went for an interview for a managerial role, my interviewer did not even bother to look at my degree and diploma cert.

Hey there! I think its a waste of time...

You can consider Advanced Diploma or Degrees or programmes that may help you to progress in your future careers.

If you are considering being a pilot, perhaps you can take up pilot programme instead of retaking diploma.

Alternatively, you can take SATs etc to go overseas to study. Or you can land yourself a job in a company which gives you the opportunity to fund your further studies (which is much less common nowadays).

Likewise, you can self-study to take Alevel examinations (which may work for you instead). It is not that hard if you put in the effort to reach your goals.

Hope this helps you in making better decision! Good day:s22:

Hi TS,

Retaking Poly diploma is not as easy as one may think and here is why;

1) Your ex-Poly student status will work against you for applying to another diploma course as your admission is only base on availablity and then Merit, not the other way round like you first apply.

2) Tuition grants issue. Although government has subsides nine semesters of tuition grant to a student, you already use six out of nine so you will have to pay the rest in full (that is provided you did not retake any semester first time round)

So you have a choice as below;

1) You still want to proceed to get another Poly diploma but your chances of getting in are slim if the course you want is popular or a low COP course.

2) You can go for the Diploma Conversion courses available in Polys to get another Special diploma or diploma or higher diploma (using your current diploma cert)

This to me is a good choice if the course available can be apply via DAE and is a conversion course (usually duration of course is 6-12 months) if you need the diploma for your career advancement

3) Go the private certificate way. If you do not want to waste any more time in studying for another diploma, you can as most people say take the private degree route

Many people want to retake their diploma for many reasons, there is no right or wrong reasons. Do just what your head and heart tell you to and be determine in your selected choice to archive your goal.

Good luck!
Calvin
