Should i stay with Olympus ?

My EPL7 kit lens have failed me again. Last year the kit lens 14-42 went haywire during my Europe trip and I had to pay to fix it when I got back SG. It failed again within less than a year during my Myanmar trip.

Should I stay with Olympus body with a different lens or switch to other brand ? I need a reliable camera and not one that spoils my holiday mood.

You can try Panasonic or 3rd party lens since they are compatible. Since the stabilizer is built in the Olympus, you can practically use any micro 4/3 lens.

Upon turning on the camera the lens would just go haywire and the screen would show "Check lens" error. I try cleaning the gold connectors part and even taking out battery and reset all settings. Seems like the kit lens is problematic from others forum. I had it fix a few months back but it happen again.

my E-PL3 and kit lens still working fine.

I own a few Olympus lens and some of them are as old as 5-7 years old and non of them has this problem.

However is a known issue that the pancake kit lens has this problem. You are better to pick up another kit lens instead of repairing.

I think they provide warranty for repair. Not sure if it's 1/3/6 months

Do you have another m43 lens you want to buy ? If yes, take this opportunity to:

1) try new lens
2) test if the issue is lens or body
3) since m43 is compatible with either Panasonic/Olympus bodies, still can use with next m43 body

oh, forgot to add....

my kit lens is the mechanical zoom, not the electronic version....
