Should i upgrade Cpu or Gpu first?

I have a Intel I5 3300 and a Gtx 1050Ti. My CPU usage is constantly near 100% so i wanted to consider upgrading it. But i hear people say that upgrading GPU is better.

CPU. Whichever usage is 100% all the time, is the bottleneck and need to be replaced.

Need to know what sort of applications or games you are trying to run here. 100% usage can be a result of unknown programs or programs that you don't even know you are running in the background that results in the 100% usage.

i5 3330 with gtx 1050ti should be fine for running most of the applications or games. The 100% usage you are seeing might be due to some other background program running like stress testing software etc. Need to know more info. Check your task manager cpu usage.

Depends on the software being used as already mentioned. My 3770K still keeps up with most applications. Video editing and 1440p gaming with a 1070 GTX. I am planning to upgrade but just waiting for reviews of the new RTX cards.

For upgrade of CPU you have to remember its not just CPU.

Its a very old CPU so when you upgrade CPU it would mean motherboard, DDR4 ram maybe NVME SSD. So it adds up to quite a significant amount.

even modern games should not be taxing the cpu to a 100%. i suggest checking what u have installed, possible virus or malware has gotten into ur pc.

i agree with this post. my cpu is i7-2600k with gtx 780 ( non overclock) still can run gta 5 and witcher 3 at medium quality with decent framerates between 35 - 50 fps . 100% load could be maybe either software or certain hardware is failing .if you overclock before maybe try revert to default settings .3770K is still a pretty powerful cpu can even almost equal /equal when comparing to i3 -8100 for gaming i think

I5-3550, on games like battlefield 1, you loses alot of fps due to using of i5.

cpu could be a bottleneck , since gtx 1060 can handle medium to high for most triple A titles at 50- 60 fps or more.
SSD being full could also cause bottleneck . keep ssd at below or between 60- 70% capacity in my own opinion. ram at 16 GB in a 64 bit OS is ideal too. DX 12 ready OS like win 10 can help in optimizing gaming performance too.
If you mainboard can support those cheap xeons (1155) maybe a worthy upgrade to source for one

Defintely CPU, it's a slow model and it's old. In addition, the Meltdown and Spectre security patches affects old cpu's performance more. More penalty on windows 7 than windows 10 too.

No bottleneck for this combination la. Gtx 1060 not even a very high end card. i5 3550 with 1060 is good combination. Only if you use Gtx 1080, 1080ti then might see bottleneck in certain AAA titles.

Worthwhile to upgrade? No. If upgrade cpu to 8700 roughly 20-30 fps improvement. If upgrade 1060 to 1080ti roughly 60-200 fps improvement depending on games.
