Should I upgrade my cpu?

Currently using i5-4460 on a H97, gtx 1080, 8gb ram for my old desktop. Wondering if my gfx card is being bottlenecked by the cpu.
When I run witcher 3, I do notice frame drops when the cpu hits max load.

The frame drops are not noticeable on my laptop which runs an i7-7700HQ with gtx 1060 6gb, although average fps is lower than the desktop.

witcher 3 is more gpu dependent... You might wanna drop some settings or add more ram ?

Will monitor the stats but I thought it’s more cpu bottlenecking rather a case where I’m running out of ram.

Oh maybe to be clear, I was wondering if I would improve the frame drops experience if I changed my cpu.

Check your cpu temps as well. Maybe its too hot during gaming.

Clean the fans and reapply thermal paste.

Consider tone down and switching off certain graphic can give some good gain. ;)
I see...However, the problem still unable to solve unless he willing to help himself. He is currently taking part-time studies and did badly for the recent exams. He did badly because he spent most of the time helping people online @hardwarezone. He neglected advice from either his friends or his family. I feel strongly he need to seek help to stop his addiction.

He is not young anymore. At such age, many of them already have a career and also a graduate in any universities. What does he have? He has a diploma and a job. A job without the need of diploma graduate.

Guys, I like to appeal to all of you to advice him online or block him. He is @ZrE0_Cha0s.

If he doesnt want to help himself under the advice of others, then that is his decision. Nothing we nor you can do. Some ppl need to learn the hard way.

For every Linus, there are unknown number of failures. Even some well-known names don't have that many subscribers. Linus Tech Tips succeed because of his personal charisma. Not a real career choice unless someone has the X-factor.

Every week only spent one hour of study. Most of his time is surfing the net.
An ex classmate. He does not want to face the truth and the reality and hide under his own shell. Living in his own world.
