Not sure if this has been asked before, but was just wondering if Macbooks should always be plugged in to the power source... Saw some articles on the net saying it should always be plugged in, but some others are saying it should not in case the battery get overheated.

Thoughts anyone?

My 2010 MBP is almost always plugged in. No worries about overheating unless something else is going on.

You can try this method. In this way, your battery cycle will always increasing. The more your battery count, the faster the battery turns and value of your Mac drops.

Apple has a battery cycle count and each 100% TOTAL IN CAPACITY is being charged (not reaches 100%), count + 1. If you see your battery count of 200, for example, it means you have charged a total, 200x of 100% to your battery (considered 50% battery when you first buy, that will be 20050%). Wear & tear of battery is determined by your count. You concerned whether always charged will spoil, answer = no. Not such thing as battery overheating when you plugged in the entire day/week/month unless you're working in a hot environment (>90Fah). But what Apple disclaimer mentioned, discharge it once a month. (That's a way to Prolong it).

Hope it helps.
