Pretty sure when you are desperate, you pick a weapon up, you will by hook or by crook know how to squeeze the trigger somehow.

Just because u learn how to drive in a Honda means u dont know how to drive Audi & BMW? Basics are the same especially if its the same class of weapon e.g. assault rifle. Even SMG also not very different. Obviously SAW and MG is a different story.

I have many friends who didn't pass rifle handling test in army due to various reasons. And they don't care....

It normal cause we are conscript solider. During my time, there are few seem like OOC guys in my coy. They do siakang warrior jobs & did not really join in the actual event like field camp, range, route march, POP & etc. End up still pass their Pes A/B BMT.

Got one dual citizenship with Australia come back to Sg to volunteer serve NSF. Do not even know basic how to hold smart4, tie his bootlace, march foot/arm drills & advance skills like field camp, range, weapon handing & etc don't even needs to say. End up still pass out from Pes A/B BMT.

In our heart, we were like KNN, this kind of standard also can pass BMT, why do we even needs to work hard for training in the first place?

The current learning is fine.

It's like taking a driving licence. U drive the school's cars but after getting the licence u can drive other cars of the allowed capacity even though it would still take some time getting used to.

Similarly for weapons, once u encounter an unfamiliar one it will just take some time to get used to it.

Besides, some vocations do learn a wide variety of weapons so that if need to, they can teach what they know to the others when the time comes.

When you get posted to unit, then got chance to hands-on on other weapons if available.

are u saying that u are able to use the scope at night too?? otherwise, there is no reason to justify that u do not know how to aim using other types of rifles.

pistol?shotgun?machine gun?
U think u are universal soldier ah? šŸ˜‚ There is a reason why there is a MG gunner vocation. Shotgun? U play too much CS liao. Unless u are in a breaching team why would u need a shotgun?

go sign-on with the special forces (e.g SOTF, or US SEALs etc).

as a NSF, u will not get to hands-on so many weapons because in the first place our country does not require u to do so.
