those who dun like categories and wish to have the pages of apps but find the scrolling tedious..maybe can try out Smoothboard

Smoothboard is an iPhone / iPod Touch hack by Aaron Ash which lets you swipe to smoothly scroll through your Springboard pages. Ash notes that there are a few minor bugs. (like springboard snapping to the nearest page when an app is opened) but it does not hinder any functionality, and you can still move icons around just fine.
