Hi,

As per title, I'm shrinking down my Rig. As I'm moving back to hometown for a few years, I'll like to carry my rig with me, but the problem is my current rig is quite heavy and bulky, thus I'm shrinking it down.

Case: Define R4 window
CPU: i5 4670K
Cooler: h80i
Mobo: Msi Z87-G45 Gaming
Graphic card: Msi 970 Gaming
PSU: Modular Seasonic G 650 or 750, i can't rmb, but the size won't deffer much.

What case is recommended for the smallest ITX casing that can fit a 970 inside?

Things I need to change (that I can think of):
Mobo < definitely into a m-itx one
Case < the smaller the better
PSU < is this one critical?
Cooler < offloading if it can't fit the new case.

I don't mind downgrading to older generation CPU + Mobo, as I plan to offload the remaining parts if necessary.

Note: If I were to sell everything and buy again in my hometown, choices will be VERY limited as my homedown doesn't have many PC shops, hence less new to date items..

One alternative I can do is to ship using DHL / FedEX, which I wouldn't want, unless I've got no choice.

Any input is welcome.. Thank you.

Unable to do so, I've stated in my first post saying things will not be available in my hometown, even if there is, it'll be old gen and expensive..

Take it apart and bring over with you. Get a new casing once you get there.

To preserve your MSI GAMING series theme, do consider these:

MB: MSI Z97I Gaming AC @ $219 (Tradepac)
CASE: Thermaltake Core V1 @ $79 (Tradepac)
Occupies 22 litres.

The above recommended chassis can fit in your graphics card and everything else nicely (and no problem with PSU length) as shown:

Define R4 is really big at 56 litres, plus the heavy weight of chassis alone and all those parts.

What I would do is

Dismantle everything. Put parts back into boxes. Pack everything into one large carton. Add lots of air bags, bubble wraps and newspapers. Then dhl/fed over to destination.

Like u said it's gonna be heavy. So I don't expect he'll be able to carry his pc along with his luggage when moving back to hometown. If he drive back to hometown then maybe can just load in car. But anything else I think hard for him to carry.

Take everything off and hand carry less the casing. Get a casing in your home town.

Going back hometown by plane, else I could load it in car no problem :D

Dismantle everything, put to box, pack everything into a giant box, then ship. Makes no difference than packing the rig into a giant box with bubble wraps and ship.

Both also pack into a giant box and ship..

The case is the main problem.

Guess I'll dismantle everything, and pack to boxes, and then put into luggage. And get a casing back in my hometown.

Or sell off mobo, get a mITX mobo and a mITX casing, put whole rig into luggage and go.

Thinking of using the later, with Silverstone RVZ02 / 01, or a cube casing like prodigy / Tt core v1..

After all the thoughts, and some rough calculation from DHL and FedEx website, I decided to ship the whole rig, while removing some of the parts like 970 and SSD..

DHL and FedEx are quoting roughly 2xx, within 5 working days.
I put the weight as 10kg, is it too low? or just right?

Thanks everyone for the input.

Why not use surface ship mail if timing is not a priority? Much cheaper too.
