Sigh... My pc gave me problem

I tried to boot w board and cpu only , it didn't boot for more than 2sec.
Just a quick spin of cpu fan and it's dead again

Your HDD is good for sure. In order to boot into BIOS, you need the following
1. On board video (Use onboard video just in case the video card is bad.)
2. CPU
3. RAM

1. Your CMOS battery (CR2032) still good ? Some mobo wouldn't boot if CMOS battery is flat.
2. Boot with 1 RAM module at a time. If still doesn't boot, swap the RAM module.

If you all these fail, then high chance it's the mobo problem.

hdd had been removed and scan via usb connection on another pc earlier, contents and stuff all intact

been using on board graphic and sound.
1. tested with new cmos batt, same outcome.
2. boot with no ram, 1 pc ram and all rams, same outcome, no beep sounds or whatsoever.

How old is your motherboard ?

slightly past 3 years, usage on pc is rather low as i'm not into pc gaming for quite a while aldy.. just normal applications, at standard settings

PC cannot boot without RAM.
High chance the motherboard is the problem. Repairing motherboard is not cheap. Just get a new one that can support your CPU and RAM.

i did reset cmos with jumper and battery method, still it didn't quite work, same outcome

Test with a (newly bought) cmos batt, boot a bit longer, enter bios to adjust settings, before I can load default settings, it shuts down again.


It's really like Mb no 'power' to boot up normal

It coming alive !
Take out the motherboard and clean it. Just use a used toothbrush. Just in case of a short circuit. Clean the CMOS battery socket contact too.

Guess gotta leave it to the experts to conclude the cause

You have put up a valiant effort to save the motherboard. The best option is to get a new motherboard that can support the CPU and RAM for less than $200. It's good for another 3 years. By that time you can junk the entire rig.

Agreed. I'm looking at tt direction, since its usage since day 1 till now still adequate for me, just running out of storage
