Hi guys!!

Need some information from you guys regarding sign on process.

Some background info, I was enlisted PES E1L9 in Oct 2016 as a Supply Assistant and ORD Oct 2018 as a CFC. I managed to up PES to B4 this year. Applied to sign on as a Supply Specialist, went for interview and now awaiting medical checkup next week (presumably a FFI).

May I know what should i expect should i pass the coming medical checkup. Bear in mind i'm a NSMen.

1. Will i be scheduled for BMT Recourse in Tekong?
2. How is B4 BMT?
3. Will i be re-equipped since i'm not issued iLBV, Helmet etc when i enlisted.
4. What will be checked at the medical checkup?

Your help and replies are very much appreciated. Thanks in advance guys!!

PES B2, B3, B4: Suitable for some combat vocations, and combat support vocations

Supply specialist aka store side sergeant
CQ maybe?

sorry i did not sign on... but.....

1. if you are going to take on a combat vocation, then you definitely need to go through a combat BMT

2. B4 BMT- sorry i do not know... not sure if it is a different batch from A and B1, or if the same

3. if you are going to take on a combat vocation, by right, you should be equipped with such items.

4. not too sure about that, if it is an FFI, then may not be something very complicated, depending on the MO judgement. bring any memo or specialist letters where applicable.

career-wise..... do think carefully

given your supposed vocation and medical background, you will hit a career ceiling.

you will definitely not be an officer unless due to special circumstance. and you will find the road to Staff sergent, master sergent , kiv warrant officer, very long and hard.

generally, the more medically fit one is, the more roles you can take in the army, and the more salary of course.

i assume you are still quite young age.

if you have pressing financial needs, if i were you, i will not stay too many years, and then break out into the private sector for other opportunities.

because the longer you stay, the harder it is to be employed outside. because you will build a resume that not many employers in the private sector are looking for.

but that is just my opinion of course. if you like army life, which some people do, then please go ahead and all the best.

Well, if TS wants to do something supply chain related in the private sector, why not?

possible, but they would pick someone with private sector experience over military of course
Like what I am going to say is going to be a hypothesis, what you are claiming is also a hypothesis as you cannot claim to represent all private sector employers. #hardtruths too

What you may not have seen or know yourself, doesn't mean it didn't exist. or maybe your sample size is too small.

nope. this is common in the workforce.
most relevant experience is preferred.

How did you come to this conclusion? How you conclude that military related experience is less relevant than non military related experience? You surveyed all past, present and future employers?

in a civilian setting, the more relevant experience would of course be civilian experience.

Going by that logic, there wouldn’t be any labour mobility

common sense oso dun have ah

the key word here is 'relevant'

most relevant is more favoured. very hard to understand meh

making yourself sound dumb and dumber

What may be relevant to you, may not be relevant to others. What may be dumb to you may not be dumb to others.
