I am currently studying in poly Y3 mechatronics engineering course. After experiencing my internship, i pretty much convinced myself that I am never gonna do engineering in the future as my career. I really dislike engineering. Anyway I feel that a degree is a need for the future but currently my gpa(2.5) in poly isn’t the best. I can probably push it higher and go SIT but then I would be studying engineering again. My current plan was to sign on to police for the bond and regular pay which I will set aside a certain amount every month of course to save for private Uni fees at SIM. I want to study something which I am interested in which is sociology.

Why police? It’s because I actually like the nature of being a police officer and having at as my NS + 3 more years seems like a really enticing offer. I am not really well off and personally taking a loan for uni seems like something I will NOT do especially at such a young age. My dilemma now is that whether I should sign on police mainly because I like it but am gonna use it to help pay for my private Uni fees.

However, after 5 years I have no intention to stay though, reason being I’ve heard that a future in Govt sector is a stable but not bright one. Mainly signing on will be the funding for my private Uni fees. Currently are any of you guys in the same situation?( poly gpa not so good but want to go Uni) I am open to other suggestions but I’m kinda set on getting a degree as it’s pretty much a basic requirement in Singapore nowadays.

1) You are in Poly Y3, I am pretty sure you have been taught before how to paragraph right?

2) define what do you mean by "like the nature of being a police officer" this is very generic.

Ps bro, so Long never use forum alr lmao

The idea of a different experience Everyday. Hands, on. Generally a rather interesting job compared to let’s say what I’m interning now in engineering sector. I find it dull af. My dad was a SOC regular back in the days also but he didn’t study. He told me if I rly want sign on can, but Long term better not.
Oh ya and also I can see myself actually enjoying being in police so why not have it during my NS also. ( Low key wanna avoid army oso lol)

Paragraphing is nothing to do with forums.

In school, you don’t paragraphs when you write stuff?

If one sign on, I’m pretty sure enlistment will be to SPF if that’s what the person signed on for.

Because you have interned in an engineering field, you know first hand what it is like. But do you have practical experience of knowing what a police life is like? It may not be your actual cup of tea too you know unless you have also a chance to intern and try it out.

Even with an engineering degree, it does not restrict you to only engineering vocations. I have known many people with such degrees that worked in IT, Banks, Teaching and other professions.

I agree, but this signing on option provides a 30k bond which is pretty much is the deciding factor for me. However i dont intend to study engineering as degree tho I don't think I can make it LOL

Why are you interested in sociology? Do you know what sociology is?
