your query would be normal if you are a pre-enlistee. But given that you are already in active service, it is surprising that this is still your question.

what i can tell you is that to be in the specialist rank would not be possible even after sign-on.

as for your 2nd question on how does the man (CFC and below) works in the army, my guess is that you are now already having the ground experience.

my advice to u is that, if you are interested in doing what you are doing now after ORD, u can consider civilian positions offered by companies out-sourced by Mindef.

it depends if you qualify for sispec where 1 criteria will be education level although in rare cases it can be exempted if you display outstanding qualities.

if you really intend to sign on, don't wait until ORD. approach ur superiors now. best if u can get sponsership for ur next education level.

Also if you are not able to go to sispec, I don't recommend you sign as man unless you are really out of options.
