there is a generation of women who are homemakers. They don't work and therefore have zero cpf.
their retirement plan is dependent on their kids, which are having problems getting married, problems with living expenses etc.
many of their kids can barely do much for their elderly parents. heng got this silver support scheme.

While I may disagree with certain policies, this is a good move regardless some may view if it is to pull votes.

My parents benefited from this policy. We were very poor previously and this help offset the burden I have today to support them and my own family.

It is just like breakfast and lunch on the government everyday.

I guess "very very poor" is subjective. Anyway, yes, b4 my mum has little cpf due to less stable job. Then became a home maker, then restarted her "career" very late; which explains for little cpf.

The scheme participation is auto n doesn't require one to "apply". Also govt will check (maybe via cpf agency) her age, income, housing type and cpf (somewhat I think those under BRS or with contribution under 150k).

Yes, I did some topups to her cpf b4 but alas, I also not rich, so not enough maybe. And yes, the scheme is indeed helpful. At least she can shop abit at JB, to pass time and also "contribute" to the family.

Lastly, there is another scheme by Comcare for those who unprivileged or have financial difficulty and it's as a family unit; which is good, for the nation and community, socially and economically.

:) So on top of this, for the rest of us, we just earnestly wait for the budget/payouts for 2025 la.
That's why I said... This is one of best policy that take care of the elderly.. That contribute to the society.

The children also tax payers.
Precisely, abit of traditional economies, command economies, mixed economies, and market economies. And hindsight, not too near democracy nor socialism and definitely not a welfare state like some western communities. We pay tax, provide help n support via active participation. Hope future will be even better with PM Wong. But the opposition support is a must, to give the ruling a nudge every now n then.

Btw, I just wanted to see if every silver support payment is the same time. Perhaps it's more like a condensed version of the AP payouts. Thanks for the info and support, guys!

My mum receives the payment around 20/21 of the month. I believe if you have PayNow, you will receive it earlier.
It used to be around these dates 20 or 21 of the month. After changed of PM all handouts seem to change to later dates.

True but I won't say do much.
After kids grow up and get married, they got their own family.
Leaving parents behind, some parents are not dependent on their children for support.
Either they go drive cab or work somewhere.
For me no I still stay with Parents cuz so older your get.
If no one talk to them or interact with them.
They can get into vegetable state.
Money is one thing, family bond is also important.
Why some elderly are more happy than theirs is because their bond is still there.
